About this listen

There are whole anthologies of stories out there about what humankind does when a game enters their world. But what about when they're living in one where a game arrived thousands of years before? What if they're the survivors of a bloody struggle, having fought for and earned their place on the planet?

Tailyn Vlashich was a young nobody far away from all those grander issues. All he cared about was one thing: making his way through a harsh world where the emperor, evil foes, and an impartial god held sway. And the god, of course, demanded nothing less than that all things were done in accordance with its divine will.

story was good and pushed the plot forward at a quick pace. the mc is a tad anoying but he's 10 and I believe this is to show that he is growing and he needs to start off with little knowledge and character and gain these as he grows. the magic is a bit mlr unique then the generic litrpg and I loved that part. all in all it was a good start and if the second book can build on this well then it might become a favorite.

I truly enjoyed the book! I did , BUT somethings don’t add up! Like how does the old herbalist get back in the MCs good graces at the end? That makes no sense. It’s like people do terrible things and become enemies but they just stay away from each other or act like it didn’t happen. Lol. Naive is a big part of this book

man, this book was awesome.
1st. narrator was awesome. i listened to this at 1.0 speed and it was right up my alley, i usually do 1.3, so he reads quite fast.
2. i loved how the story takes place thousands of years after the system comes to earth. it makes it feel so fresh.
3. characters feel alive. i hated Dort so much, that is awesome. when i feel riled up for the m.c. so good. my one complaint, the m.c. is 10, but at times acts more like a much older person. not major but could break immersion a litttle bit.
4. worth the credit. ill be following this series for sure

what a freaking awesome ride

I’ve really enjoyed the series and premise. Excellent mix of magic blended with tech and a good plot line, though basic, enhanced with a strong societal structure. I like especially that character growth and aging of the individuals is well handled in keeping with emotional age and intellectual capability without the whiney-ness of most teen/preteen characterizations found in other stories. One more review when I finish the series…

Solid story telling and character set

Awesome story, especially the climax. After that, there were many excessively disappointing resolution points, including the protagonist being forced to waste a powerful boon on a silly court case.

Amazing

The book is fun, is it an epic No but I am glad I listened. Good guy to root for and bad guys to dislike. Coming of age with adversity . Will look forward to the next book.

This is good.
Interesting world with decent magic system. Fine characters.

However, there's some problems IMO.
Firstly, why does the kid act like a horny teenager? He's 10! Secondly, he has no problem one-shotting hordes of enemies much more powerful than himself using a single lvl 1 card.
Thirdly... Seeing how he's a walking murder-machine why does everyone seem to be like: "Oh, you saved my life for the third time while I just sat here helplessly... Thanks I guess. Now, do what I tell you or feel the back of my hand, boy!!"?

Good with some problems
