Publisher's summary

There are whole anthologies of stories out there about what humankind does when a game enters their world. But what about when they're living in one where a game arrived thousands of years before? What if they're the survivors of a bloody struggle, having fought for and earned their place on the planet?

Tailyn Vlashich was a young nobody far away from all those grander issues. All he cared about was one thing: making his way through a harsh world where the emperor, evil foes, and an impartial god held sway. And the god, of course, demanded nothing less than that all things were done in accordance with its divine will.

Worth the credit

I truly enjoyed the book! I did , BUT somethings don’t add up! Like how does the old herbalist get back in the MCs good graces at the end? That makes no sense. It’s like people do terrible things and become enemies but they just stay away from each other or act like it didn’t happen. Lol. Naive is a big part of this book

Enjoyable

The book is fun, is it an epic No but I am glad I listened. Good guy to root for and bad guys to dislike. Coming of age with adversity . Will look forward to the next book.

Good with some problems

This is good.
Interesting world with decent magic system. Fine characters.

However, there's some problems IMO.
Firstly, why does the kid act like a horny teenager? He's 10! Secondly, he has no problem one-shotting hordes of enemies much more powerful than himself using a single lvl 1 card.
Thirdly... Seeing how he's a walking murder-machine why does everyone seem to be like: "Oh, you saved my life for the third time while I just sat here helplessly... Thanks I guess. Now, do what I tell you or feel the back of my hand, boy!!"?

enjoyable

good litrpg because it’s focused on a great and interesting story… this alternate world is a bit dark and the magic system is unique. i like the main character, excellent growth and progression but not over the top. lots of interesting sub plots/ things going on. i plan to continue listening/ good series

The story is fine but the narration is meh.

I feel like I would enjoy the story more if the narrator didn't make me feel like he was rushing every sentence. It sounds like he's speaking so fast that he has to take a breath after every sentence so it never let's the reader immerse themselves fully into the book because of the constant jerky(stop and go) feeling.

entertaining

story was good and pushed the plot forward at a quick pace. the mc is a tad anoying but he's 10 and I believe this is to show that he is growing and he needs to start off with little knowledge and character and gain these as he grows. the magic is a bit mlr unique then the generic litrpg and I loved that part. all in all it was a good start and if the second book can build on this well then it might become a favorite.

Good, but misleading

The story itself is good, but the characters needed more depth and needed to be the same age as the cover art. Also, the MC is supposed to be an alchemist, but nothing about him is alchemist like. He uses spells like a mage, wears mage equipment, and even is seen as a mage by those around him. Him being a alchemist is pointless in this book. He crafts a few potions, but apparently herbalist and mages can too. Having a class system is meaningless if there are no boons or negatives to gain other skills or class skills. Apparently he is also the only one to break the common sense barrier of this world too.
