About this listen

Let's go! A new, ultramodern mobile game, and the release is just two days away. Be the best, save the planet! Who's going to fight back the monster invasion if you don't? Prerelease already available, no text alerts or payment required.

World of the Changed completely modified human consciousness. The incredible graphics that worked even on the simplest of phones. The intuitive interface that made the game accessible for absolutely anyone. The aggressive marketing campaign that put news about the game on every TV, every phone, every tablet. By the time the launch was a few days away, an entire army of fans was out there waiting for just one thing: Hour X. That was what the mysterious developers were calling the release time.

But did anyone have a clue what Hour X would unleash on them? Were they ready to pay the price the game demanded? Mark Derwin, a student, was just one of many to have no idea what kind of fate awaited him in the game. All he cared about was jumping into the prerelease as soon as it came out.

An Entertaining Lit Rpg set in the Real World

I absolutely love Lit RPG books set in the real world because they feel like they have real consequences. This book has great character progression , an enthralling story, and I also love that no person is safe from getting killed. If you love the other stories by this author then you will definately love this book.

New twist on survival of the fittest style LitRPG

I really like the idea that this is based off of, with the alien tech using phones and ambient nanites to create a “real world” game. I also like that there aren’t any NPCs (this can sometimes change interactions for the worse when the character doesn’t think of certain characters as real people).
On the other hand though, there were some things that were just... implausible or didn’t make sense. There’s no way that this dude who obviously cares about his sister leaves her trapped underground. It just doesn’t make sense with his character. Also, at certain points he is just overpowered. I remember thinking “seriously? That would just not happen” more than a couple times. And finally, there are at least 2 times that the rhetoric was straight up condescending towards women. I think someone else had a comment about that and I didn’t take it seriously, but after reading it, I have to say it didn’t add to my enjoyment of the book. I ended up reading the next one, but I just got frustrated when none of that really improved, so I’m not going to read the third.

great concept. hardcore story. ruined by sexism.

look I know the author is Russian but the casual dismissal of all women as either emotional leverage or baby factories really takes a lot away from the story. like his sister gets held hostage like 5 different ways in this book, althoughat no point does he actually bother go find her. there isn't a single other female character of lasting importance. that however doesn't stop the main character from berating himself for acting like a woman whenever he experiences feelings.

I love the setting and the way he has to ride the line between fighting the system and being dependent on it. that being said the MC bullshit is endless and he barely survives and spends at least 50% of his time passed out while healing or upgrading and somehow is always fine when he wakes up. which makes almost no sense based on other parts of the story.

amazing

its rather entertaining seeing the reviews from my fellow westerners. sexism, womaniser, to powerful. are mostly what they complain about. news flash for those that haven't traveled out of their safe spaces much less to other countries and has personally seen other cultures. not everyone agrees with you. people are mostly happy in other countries regardless what you deem is right or wrong that's the life they have and if they hated it so much they would move somewhere else. also not everyone wants to hear stories about weakling morons that can't cross the street without getting their butt kicked. some like strong confident and smart male main characters.

Great LitRPG series that has a conclusion.

Vasily Mahanenko does it again this is a great series. What I like about Vasily Mahanenko is that he finishes his LitRPG series's in a reasonable time. How many other LitRPG series's are still out there floundering with no finish in sight. This is definitively an apocalyptic LitRPG, and can get a bit dark. As this books is a translation something is lost, but it is still fun. If you have not listed to the The Way of the Shaman series then go get it as well!

Ok but with problems.

VERY fast paced. Good in some ways but detrimental to the story mostly. We never get any time to actually get to know the main character. Note to the author - FEELINGS are a thing. It doesn't always have to be action and injuries. - Women are not seen in the best light. Not sure if it is a translation problem or the author just doesn't think much of women. Overall the story has a great premise but everything goes by so fast I got whiplash.

Weird but pretty good

This was a pretty good book with a unique storyline. I like the litrpg mechanics and it’s well written. My one complaint is that this author has a propensity to take something right after it’s given to the Mc. I’ve never liked that in books because it feels like time was wasted.

what was that

this was all over the place in forgetting the laws it set for its self and the people it felt like most of the book he didn't have a sister until it was convient.
