About this listen

The game has evolved....

Eric McCaffrey has been playing Zag in the VR-MMOFPS Battlegrounds Online for a while now. The more he plays, the more entrenched into the game he gets.

It hardly even feels like a game anymore.

Zag, now one of the commandos for the Knights of the Tactical Operations Group, is tasked with freeing Punta del Muerta from the terrorist group Wyvern. Along with the rest of the Knights, Zag will dive deep into the jungles, war-torn cities, and concrete bunkers, but will he be able to complete all the missions in time?

Outside, in the real world, Eric is becoming a new man. The game has impacts on him that he's just beginning to discover, affecting both mind and body.

But is it for the better?

Don't miss book two in this high-adrenaline LitRPG/LitFPS adventure from the Amazon best-selling author behind Sky Realms Online. An action-packed thrill ride that puts you right in the crosshairs.

good book

I really don't like the minimum word count requirements for audible reviews. . . . .

Still great. One request…

Neil, please stop saying F.O.B. In any military world, it’s pronounced FOB, or just say the Forward Operating Base. Either are acceptable. F.O.B. makes it sound like you didn’t do your homework, but I know you’re a stellar narrator. Also, I noticed significantly less deep breaths between sentences that are way too prevalent in the Ten Realms Series, so thank you! It can be a little distracting at times. That’s literally my only gripe with Book 2 (and 1 for that matter). Love this series. Keep em’ coming!

solid

This is definitely a solid story. A bit light on the video game aspects but definitely still enjoyable. For the folks that are wondering why the main character isn't extremely offended at what is being done to him, That anger and outrage is what will stir people to purchase the next book. There is a reason there is drama and all TV shows or other forms of entertainment. Changing people without their consent is highly illegal and unethical. In the next Book we will likely see if they are the good guys or not. Also as to why Eric is not extremely offended. 1) He is already being subjected to mind alteration which can obviously include limiting how many questions he asks as well as adjusting his mindset. 2) Many folks that join the military have no other alternatives. As a veteran myself I came from a very bad neighborhood and saw no other way out. In the beginning of the story the main character has literally nothing going for him and is living a dead end life. This game although changing him without consent has given him an entire life and drive he never had before as well as basically superpowers since he was nothing beforehand. It's all mysterious and crazy but I have been intrigued the entire time and certainly enjoy the book. I keep asking myself why would you keep logging back in and don't you realize it's just a game and those aren't real teammates. At the end of the day that is the author's design. I'll be getting the next.

Its frightening how much brainwashing is happening

*spoilers***

The ending really annoys me. He's essentially told that the video game he's been playing has been imparting knowledge against his will and without his permission.

They play it off as some kind of grand thing, like it's amazing that it's worked so well. They don't even think about the consequences of such technology.

The guy can't even stop playing because the game has instilled such loyalty to his NPC companions that he can't even think of quitting the game.

He decides he wants to keep playing, keep being changed. But how can he even know if that's his own desire or not?

With the tech to reach into people's heads and fiddle around, and that tech in the hands of the wrong people, it could be an apocalypse.

Just imagine that someone makes a game that can train a civilian into an elite soilder in weeks or months instead of years. Can physically enhance them. And that game can brainwash it's users into not talking about what's happened to them.

If it can do that, what else can it do? Turn civilians of other countries into spy's or sleeper agents? Make all there soldiers blinding loyal? Inhumanly cruel?

That's the beginnings of a war unlike any seen before. Where people are little more valuable than a bottle of water.

Who cares how many you use up and throw away. There's always more where that came from. Now with a cheaper and cheaper price as the tech gets more advanced.
