About this listen

Titan was one of the nation's most loved and respected Heroes, until an infidelity scandal tore his image and family apart. After decades spent out of the limelight, Owen Daniels has decided to take up the mantle of Titan once again to try and make amends for his years away. Unfortunately, the Titan Scandal is still common knowledge, and no Hero team wants such a polarizing figure.

With no other options, Owen is forced to take a job overseeing a group of corpies, corporate-sponsored Supers who do rescue work...as long as there are cameras around. Between a team that doesn't want him, fellow Heroes who don't trust him, and a nation that might not be ready to forgive the sins of the past, the return of Titan could prove even harder than the scandal that drove him away. But Owen will have to push on, because his new city is far from a peaceful one.

A mysterious enemy is attacking Heroes and growing steadily stronger. An enemy that only the once-legendary Titan might be able to stop. If he can manage to stick around this time.

Wow, loved it!

I've read the two Super Powered books, and enjoyed them--they seem almost written for use as Audible titles. For the first time I realized that audio books may be driving certain areas of literature. I like long books with great characters and clever, innovative, worlds.

This one starts on an awkward premise, but it never becomes uncomfortable. I don't like sex mixed into my action/adventure/fantasy/sci-fi novels, and this book doesn't cross the line. It maintains the issue as a personal challenge the main character deals with--and like so much of the story, shows how character and determination are what makes a person awesome, and that sexuality is just a part of a very complex person. It isn't about this--but it is addressed.

I came away having really enjoyed the book and having great respect for the author as he dealt with real world issues in a very fictional--yet enjoyable--world where heroes are part of the people landscape.

Highly recommend all three books--with this one as good as the other two.

Bring on more.

A Distant Second

Not a bad book, it was performed well and had solid writing I have come to associate with Mr. Hayes. The only thing is the cast is just not as memorable or enjoyable as the HCP students from Superpowereds. I do love though that we have a solid, real, and likeable gay super hero who finds romance and a second chance at redemption.

Great Fantasy Novel

This epic story was extremely entertaining and well constructed. I had already become a fan of Drew Hayes from his Supers epic saga. But after reading this tangential storyline, I am forced to methodically read his entire opus of novels. I wholeheartedly endorse to all comers to give his books a try. I even enjoy the online content that helps we fans keep track of all the characters and their personalities and abilities. I love this new universe and hope someone can find a way to get it on the screen, either TV or Film.

it's just as good as the main series. Loved the change of pace as well from Super Powereds.

Another Drew Hayes hit!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I am very fond of Drew Hayes' books. He is a wonderful author who does a good job at world building and character construction. Corpies is an off-shoot of the Powereds series and deal with Titan. Titan decides that he is going back to hero work to try and make the world a better place. However, the only gig he can get is to be with corpies, who aren't heros. Corpies clean up messes made by heros and villians. As Titan works with his new team, he learns the critical job the Corpies do, and how he can help them be a better team.

Drew Hayes does a fine job in creating characters the listener can relate to and sympathize with. And as with every other book he has written, there are lots of action sequences and humorous bits to keep you wanting more. I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

validates the series

This book really established this series for me showing that it could not only exist outside of the school for the gifted trope but thrive as a fully fleshed out world (or at least country). It was fun add fairly light hearted while not shirking at looking at some darker topics.

Everything I hoped it would be

Both Hayes' writing and McCarley's performance are excellent. For a moment, in the beginning, the setting seemed like it might a bit awkward, but at no point was that the case.

Just like in Super Powereds, Hayes avoids villains who are evil for the sake of being evil, instead opting for having every character having good reasons for what they do.

I truly adored the way Owen's homosexuality is treated: as just a small part of who he is. All Hayes' characters are interesting and multi-faceted, and McCarley brings them to life with his performance. As McCarley did in Super Powereds, he gives every character a recognizable and fitting own voice, only increasing the immersion in the story.

Awesome addition

I wish Mr. Hayes would write more of these offshoot books taking place in this universe. I was slightly apprehensive that I would not like the story or characters as well as I did the original superpowered’s books. I am very pleased to say I did enjoy them just as much if not more in some cases. Mr. Hayes’ stories always pull me in and keep me listening at every opportunity I have.

Supers as they would be if they were.

No pulling punches with these Super Heros! A lot of thought went into fleshing out this super infested world. Great fun to read/listen to.
