About this listen

Dungeons are a lot like sea turtles. They’re born in clutches of dozens, if not hundreds. A 100 may be born at one time, buried in still-burning cities, in forests where the canopy hides the sky, or in ocean trenches at the bottom of the sea. But, only one in a clutch ever makes it to the surface.

Everyone knows about dungeons - monstrous factories that emerge out of the earth, full of riches and Arcana and power - and monsters.

Mark doesn’t know anything about dungeons. He isn’t from this world. He's been reborn in another world. Just one problem: he is half of a dungeoncore. The other half? A dark lord.

This book is an utter joy to read, and I highly recommend. While there is some clunky dialog and the characters are a bit too shallow, it’s still a wonderful ride.

The only bad thing that stands out is that several story arcs are rushed and lackluster (specifically the Longtail war and the Arcana). Luckily, these mostly occur during the end of the book, even if they make the book painful to finish. Still, it’s still worth the credit overall.

This style of rushed, broad-stroke climax is a staple of Wolfe Locke’s writing, which is unfortunate considering how interesting most of the ideas he works with are. Still, “Deepest Dungeon” is a one of the best dungeon books you’re going to find, so definitely check it out!

Strong start, rushed ending, great book

This is not your cookie cutter dungeon core novel and I really enjoyed it! My only complaint would be that the producer or editor had no pauses between chapter or scene switches of Characters. Narration was well done . Looking forward to see what happens next.

Cool Concept!

I really liked this story. A lot. It's the first time I've really seen a take like this with dungeon core stuff. Very interesting. I would recommend.

Oh. This was clever.

If you liked games like the Sims and DND, Why not combine those and make a good story?
Mark, a sweetheart... Dies... the end.
Just kidding, it's the beginning of a journey. His soul becomes entwined with that of one who is not as sweet, at all. I believe you will hear him say, OR DIE, many times. Anywho, both souls become entwined and reincarnated as a dungeon core. Dungeon cores are basically like the sims, as I brought up earlier... they control their area and slowly grow and expand... except the god that reincarnated them, also did so with many random souls. So now they must learn to work together and build an empire using only the knowledge they had in life, and fight the other cores, OR DIE..... This is a story of twisted experiments, monsters, lost knowledge, and no love, but they got mushrooms... Now the story was great, the only thing I didn't like was the constant perspective jumping without warning. I like to listen while playing gathering games or working out and could keep up till it did that and I had to rewind to figure out why it changed abruptly. Other than that, I liked the concept.

I really enjoyed this book, It has a fairly unique setting and almost by magic seems to avoid all the pitfalls of the rpg genre. It's definitely more character and narratively based with almost no math whatsoever which is great for this particular story, a lot of books just throw it in because they feel they have to because it's part of the genre. It also keeps things to a reasonable scale and pace, No God's bestowing broken powers in chapter one or universe shattering conflicts fought mid book, no "this isn't even my final form" out of nowhere. The narrator's performance was absolutely great with each character having a unique voice while still Being able to express the full range of emotion for each individual character, He even makes the reptilian character's sound reptilian without it being hisssssss this and hisssssssss that. if you like rpg books but want to step beyond the usual fair this book is for you. 10/10

A good listen and a story with a unique perspective. Cool premise for mc to be dungeon core, interesting creatures/concept, and a decent unique culture. that being said, littered with side characters that try to be important and fail.

solid dungeon core with some unique concepts

This story was wonderfully creative. A great twist on the dungeon-lit genre. The characters were interesting and well fleshed out. The mechanics were not at all to crunchy.

Evolution and a Bromance!
