About this listen

Stuck in the middle of a city turned monster-infested jungle, things weren't going well for Thomas. And now he’s a rock.

A visit to London’s Natural History Museum became a horror show as magic flooded Earth. Now, Thomas is entombed there as a Dungeon Core, with only the creatures on display available as minions.

All over the globe, patches of land have been replaced by strange alien environments, containing not only monsters from myth and legend, but also humanity’s worst nightmares. Leviathans stir at the bottom of the ocean, dragons have reclaimed the skies, and shadows are once again something to fear.

Can Thomas turn this former place of learning into a deathtrap capable of withstanding the forces of the outside world, or will he fall victim to the bottomless appetites of supernatural beasts?

From Jakob Grief, bestselling author of Apocalypse Redux, comes a brand-new Dungeon Core series unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Great start you must have more

It's a great start. You must have more. This is a really good story with great conflict between different characters and we different types of systems. That'll be interesting. To see what happens if they introduce more systems and more characters as they go along into the different areas. And it would be interesting to see if they can do something like say, have the royal family involved in some way, but this is a good start to a good series with a lot of promise and some very good, strong characters being developed

needed a second narrator

the story is fast pace in a bad way without being a bad story. The narrator is fast pace and needed a female narrator to support him.

Fun dungeon core!

It’s been a while since I’ve tried a Dungeon core book. When I saw this one, I just had to give it a go!

I really enjoyed myself. The snark between the core are fairy was amazing. The counter point of the officer being outside the core’s area was nicely done too. I am very interested in seeing where things go. Do they figure out why he cannot see good information about him self via the system? Does the plant mage guy escape and go crazy?? Do they remove his ring before it becomes problematic??

100% loved, will listen again. Note: sadly too much language to listen with the kids, but I did have a fun listen!

Great Dungeon Core Story

Best Dungeon Core story I've read this year. Reminds me of the best parts of the Divine Dungeon series. The characters are interesting and likeable while still reacting in a realistic manner to an apocalypse event. I absolutely love the contrast of a dungeon core loving adorable things and beimg so deadly. Great story and looking forward to the next book!

Fun dungeon core book!

This book was one of those rare delights when a great narrator is paired with a story perfect for them. The story is a fun night at the museum dungeon core book with a lot of humor. The narrator really seems to enjoy the book and gives it his all. His comedic timing combined with the books humor makes for a really enjoyable listen.

Excellent but not long enough!

This first book does an amazing job building the basis of the story and getting it started. The narrator is fantastic and hilarious in my opinion. my only qualm is that just when the story was starting to build up and make progress, the first book was over and the second book is not out yet.

Great stuff!

This book makes me think of the early writings of Jonathan Brooks with a bit of Jez Cajiao's "Age of..." series thrown in for flavor.
Great stuff!
I'm really looking forward to reading/listening to book 2 and seeing where this story goes and experiencing the author's growth, as well.
The skipping back and forth between character stories could be a bit smoother, but that's my only major critique.
Loved it❣️
Looking forward to the next one.
I'm giving this book 7 out of 5 stars.

got this for free

got this for free so I will take the time to review it.
first yes I loved the story. It isn't the best dungeon core I've read but definitely up there,.
now I'm going to try to provide info to help you make your decision and hopefully shorten the typing i end up doing.

story: dungeon core story with a second mc who is not part of the dungeon. so there are intermittent chapters of a changing viewpoint. has similar feel of apocalypse redux even if a completely different premise. I also found it quite humorous.

narration: excellent

MC: neither one annoyed me, which was honestly very refreshing for me. Usually I have to chalk something up to difference of opinion, or it's harder to notice from their perspective, or just simply have to turn my brain off. I felt like the MCs (yeah I just went ahead and considered the second point of view we would get as another MC) behaved in a logical manner, or in a way that suited them. I didn't feel it was over the top heroics or ridiculous d-baggery. So this section I probably considered the highest scoring category for the story.
Edit: Accidently hit the submit button on phone so had to finish up review on computer.
