About this listen

An empowering and witty guide to banishing shame and living your fullest life with ADHD—plus tips for loved ones on helping them navigate this world, too—from viral duo ADHD_Love.

What if you stopped feeling ashamed of constantly being late or of getting so hyperfocused on a task that you drop everything else you had to do? How can you as a partner, parent, or friend better understand your neurodivergent loved one’s way of moving through the world?

In Dirty Laundry, life partners Rich Pink and Rox Emery unapologetically guide you through the ups and downs of life with ADHD. Every chapter starts with a common symptom of ADHD, like impulsivity or struggles with finances, and an earnest moment from their own lives to show you how they navigate the symptom together. Rox reminds you to be kind to yourself and love yourself for who you are; Rich offers tips on how he uses compassion and honesty instead of jumping to conclusions. Whether it's helping your ADHDer with friendly time-checks before an appointment or reminding yourself to take breaks during hours spent hyperfocusing on a new project, Rox and Rich give you the tools to destigmatize and normalize life with ADHD.

Heart warming and inspires hope

What shines through the most for me in this book is the depth of love and committed partnership Roxy and rich have. ADHD is of course engaged with brilliantly throughout the book, but just as much it felt like a guide on how to build a beautiful relationship by being so open and intentional around giving and receiving support. As someone who is neurodivergent and also a trauma survivor this book gave me so much hope and healing.

Acceptance without Judgement

There are a lot of books out there on ADHD. This one is different.

ADHD is frustrating. It affects our lives in so many ways, day after day, regardless of the countless hours put in learning all the tips and tricks under the sun to combat shortcomings. Book after book attempts to help out, and we continue to try to improve - to be on time, to do daily housework, to complete simple tasks, to remember important information or deadlines - and we continue to fail often, and continue to beat ourselves up.

This book reminds us there is more to the equation than just the negative. We are amazingly creative, and ridiculously capable people in the right circumstances. Instead of judging ourselves harshly for having ADHD, which we cannot control, we need to give ourselves credit for the work we put in, the fight we keep fighting (when we can), and celebrate the amazing people we still are. Creating a loving, accepting, judgment-free environment for ourselves to continue to grow is a key step missed by most experts. This allows us to be our authentic selves, to have open conversations about otherwise embarrassing topics, for us to take responsibility safely for harm we may cause, while growing with support rather than feeling isolated from failure.

So, dance while you do housework if that is who you are. Sit cross legged at your desk chair. Pace while engaged in a good phone conversation. Find your spark, embrace it and nourish it. Learn to love all the exceptional parts of who you are. Find the people that are willing to see you and accept you, that will face the hardships with you as friends and partners instead of judging you. We don’t have to be perfect to be loved; we are worthy of love as we are.

Fantastic - don’t hesitate to purchase

This is a great book. I bought the Audible book since after years of not reading for pleasure (possibly linked to my recent ADHD dx) I find audiobooks easier to focus on. I liked hearing both of the authors’ perspectives (neurotypical and ADHD) and listening to their personal stories. It’s also clear they make a great team (couple) and that both people’s feelings and experiences are validated. Honestly, I would recommend this book for any couple dealing with
challenges in life- not just ADHD. Thank you to the authors for sharing so much valuable insight with your readers/fans.

I saw myself in this book

I saw myself in every chapter! I wish I had someone in my life, like Rox has Rich, to understand the depths of ADHD.

Well done and thank you!

I feel seen and hope restored

I struggle with my diagnosis because of all my comorbid diagnoses and the fact that I don’t know which symptoms go with what. While the focus of your page and this book is ADHD, it how you break it down by symptoms and how to manage yourself and as a loving partner. My heart was clenched the entire time but in a good way. I feel seen and I feel hope that with a bit more therapy and acceptance and tweaks in my daily life, I can feel more stable and loved and self love.

ADHD hardships, super powers & acceptance

I was diagnosed at 20, here I am at 31 frustrated with my life and my piles and endless amount of “hobbies” I overindulge in just to move onto the next one a few weeks later. I laugh at my brain when it happens but deep down I can feel stupid and like a failure. I wanted to try to take charge of my adhd brain without medication. I just finished this book after purchasing it this morning while crafting.
I am excited to share this with my husband as I relate so much with rox and am looking forward to starting this journey of accepting, yet looking into really trying to manage some of my “downfalls” in society. I feel that this book can explain my struggles on how my brain operates better than I can to my partner.
Thanks to both of you. Rich, your compassion and desire to walk along this journey with your wife. Rox, for sharing your experience with your adhd brain and providing tips and tricks to help us cope. Thank you both for being so open and letting us into your life both for my sake and my partner’s. 🖤

Great ADHD 101

Very good beginners guide to ADHD, I really liked the hers and his perspective switches on the topics. I also really got a kick out of the Glossary at the end. As a fellow Roxanne ADHDer this book felt even that much more relatable 😆

Absolutely loved every min of this.

I found the book through tik tok where I often watch adhd love videos. This book is dead on to the majority of my life and struggles. I cannot wait for an update book 😉

How well it was told through both of the authors perspective.

At first I found myself losing interest (I have ADHD), but the narration and story quickly drew me back in with relatable content. I didn’t learn new information as much as I learned how to explain and understand so much more and I appreciate that. I also think it helped that the couple had such comforting voices and were telling their own experiences.
