Publisher's summary

Even supervillains have lines they dare not cross. If only the same could be said of heroes....

For more than two decades, the sight of Doctor Fid's powered armor has struck terror into the hearts of hero and civilian alike. But when a personal tragedy motivates Doctor Fid to investigate a crime, a plot is uncovered so horrific that even he is taken aback. Haunted by painful memories and profound guilt, the veteran supervillain must race against time if he is to have any hope of confronting the approaching threat. Every battle takes its toll...but the stakes are too high for retreat to be an option.

Listen to the supervillainous action-thriller that critics have called "immediately engaging", "ridiculously fun", and "a solid foundation for a new series!"

Wow

Grabbed this because of a recommendation from another reader who recommended it to Garon Whited; I truly enjoyed this book, it made me laugh, become friends with a supervillain, and genuinely improved my mood during this dreary 2020. The Narration is jarringly distinct and gives an unexpected gravity to Fid that’s becomes so, on, point; im sold. Also, took the time to write the review specifically because you asked, well played.

Absolutely Lovely

The story itself is amazing. Most everything Doctor Fid does is understandable, I never went "Ugh you idoit" at his actions, they always fit his character and made sense with his situation. The three books in the series can be read alone and still make sense. The author makes fun and interesting charcters that the reader can become attached to. Overall really well done and deserves more attention.

Excellent writing marred by technical issues.

There are parts of this that are impossible to get through because things jump abruptly from one point to another, and I can't imagine that's a stylistic choice given how this author writes, which means it's an audible issue. It's unfortunate because the story really had my attention and I have no real complaints about the writing. Love the title character, there are some excellent moments, the supporting cast is well-developed, it's good but I can't recommend this specific version unless audible fixes the errors (two chapters actually repeat! it's a mess!)

Great book, mediocre reading.

'Strength' contains a 'g'. It is not silent. I found the reader's characters' voices insufficiently different from one another.

I never had any trouble understanding what was said.

Very well done

Story is very well done. Narrator isn't the best but with the exception of some long pauses that made me think the book was paused, completely proficient.

Can't wait for the next one.

bit of a slow burn but worth it

it takes a bit to properly get going and there are flashbacks that slow down the action, but it's worth it.

It was fun.

I usually listen to audiobooks on and off for a few weeks. This is one of the few books where I could not stop listening. Where there issues yes but it was one of those guilty pleasure books that you just keep coming back to. I now own the entire trilogy and can’t wait to continue Fid’s Crusade. Thank you Mr. Reiss for an awesome book and thank Mr. Napier for bringing Dr. Fid to life.

Excellent story! The sequel will be my next book!

Incredible narration, but it took me a little while to get the rhythm, not because George Napier was reading it poorly, but because he captured Dr. Fid's detached emotional state so well. He really added to my understanding of his psyche. His character growth was believable and brought a vulnerability to one of the most powerful beings in this reality. We need more of this!

Fantastic! loved every second of it!

I'm hoping this is the beginning on an addictive new series! I thought the story was so well written and the characters were fun to follow along with. Just bought the seconds book...
