About this listen

Intimately and without jargon, How to Wake Up: A Buddhist-Inspired Guide to Navigating Joy and Sorrow, describes the path to peace amid all of life's ups and downs. Using step by step instructions, the author illustrates how to be fully present in the moment without clinging to joy or resisting sorrow. This opens the door to a kind of wellness that goes beyond circumstances.

Actively engaging life as it is in this fashion holds the potential for awakening to a peace and well-being that are not dependent on whether a particular experience is joyful or sorrowful. This is a practical audiobook, containing dozens of exercises and practices, all of which are illustrated with easy-to-relate to personal stories from the author's experience.

So easy and refreshing

Great narration, soft, clear and inspiring use of words. The story is about innermost self awareness and choices of “pause” to decide which choice could give the ultimate outcome. It helps emphasize self empowering of control over emotional takeover as an old habit. It helps create the power to pause and choose with good comparisons and examples, Paradigm shifting,

Excellent

Would you listen to How to Wake Up again? Why?

To keep practicing mindfulness.

What other book might you compare How to Wake Up to and why?

Ajan Brahams book, Open the door to your heart - another Buddhist teaching book.

Have you listened to any of Deon Vozov’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. Good narration, comes off a little sleepy sounding at first but then becomes calming

What insight do you think you’ll apply from How to Wake Up?

What 'Living in the now' meant. I finally got it and it was this book that brought me there.

Any additional comments?

Lovely book, great for listening whilst in traffic, very calming. Although that is not being very mindful :-)

I see you...

This book was well written and presented. The author used personal experience and very personal discoveries to make the content very relatable. There were many bits of wisdom and simple practices to quickly incorporate into your daily routine. Very pleasant to listen to, kind to self, and easy to consume.

Easy to understand

Loved it. It was easy for me to understand. I like how the author used her sickness to describe the human feelings about what’s going on in our minds and how Chester let it be I really liked it.
