About this listen

Daily lessons and meditations on how to detach from other people's expectations and discover a life of balance and freedom.

Do you ever feel like you give other people too much power over what you think and feel? Does how your mate or child or employer treat you make or break your day? Do you find yourself feeling immobilized by other people's expectations and demands? These are the classic indicators of codependence. And the only solution to codependence is detachment. This seeming paradox-embracing (bringing near you) detachment (separation) - holds the key to your inner peace and that of those around you.

Through 200 meditations, Karen Casey teaches you how to let go of the illusion that you can control anyone or anything beyond yourself. You'll learn how to find your own balance point and how to get to it whenever you find yourself tempted to become enmeshed in other people's problems or to rescue them.

I appreciate the ideas given and plan to listen over and over until I am practicing detachment naturally.

I don’t find recommendations to abdicate my responsibility to an imaginary benefactor useful or helpful . Your mileage may vary: for me it was pretty useless.

Too much God

Years ago I had a attachment to someone that I shouldn’t have in my life was so enmeshed with theirs that it made me miserable. I finally turned the tables on that one. Years later, I had the same thing happen with a family member… I was miserable again I have this book on repeat. It is helped me for years. All I have to do is listen and pray, and it helped me more than I can say. I’m so so grateful. I hope it helps you too.

Peace… Again and again. Has helped me for years.

Happened upon this book, much by accident and appreciated it greatly after a heavy breakup.

I’m glad I didn’t let the one negative review stop me from getting this book. The narrator does a fine job and the content of the book is just what I was looking for. Most other books on codependency are for victims in an unhealthy relationship usually plagued by addiction. However for me I needed something more for people who are too concerned about other peoples thoughts and opinions. I have codependency in the sense that my own thoughts and feelings have never been enough for me, and practicing detachment is exactly what I need. Thank you to both the author and the narrator.

Just the Book I Needed

This book helped me get off my antidepressant meds and I’m feeling much better since I’ve learned to Let Go and remember that I can’t control anyone except myself. Thank you to my therapist who recommended the book and thank you Karen Casey for writing it.

Worth the money

The narrator was terrible. I didn't even finish it because the way it was read was boring and stiff. The book itself really has nothing ground breaking or new. I can't honestly say 100% because I just couldn't listen anymore.

Ok Book, Stiff and Boring Narration

This is a great book teaches much needed theory. I love the pause and reflect portions. Guides you in thinking differently.

“Pause and reflect” is appreciated
