Publisher's summary

A houseful of clutter may not be the only reason people pack on extra pounds, but research proves that it plays a big role. A recent study showed that people with super-cluttered homes were 77 percent more likely to be overweight or obese!

In Lose the Clutter, Lose the Weight, organizing guru Peter Walsh comes to the rescue with a simple six-week plan to help listeners:

  • Clear their homes of excess stuff as they discover their visions for their personal spaces
  • Clear their bodies of excess pounds as they follow a healthy, super-simple eating and exercise plan
  • Clear their minds and spirits of the excess weight of too many possessions

Rodale took the program for a test drive with two dozen volunteers who followed his plan. All reported great results - from significant weight loss to calmer minds and more organized, happier, and more efficient lives.

Helpful book

What did you like best about Lose the Clutter, Lose the Weight? What did you like least?

I liked the way the book made me think about new items I would bring into the house (and items I'd bring into my body). It also made me feel less guilty to get rid of gifts, "the gift is NOT your aunt." What I liked the least was the idea to do workouts with the stuff I'm getting rid of. I guess that would be a good idea for some people, but it just isn't for me.

What aspect of Shaun Grindell’s performance would you have changed?

Another review mentioned that he overemphasized certain words. This was cured by listening to the book at 1.25 speed. It was much more enjoyable!

I liked the way it gave you permission to let things go. I would suggest changing the reading speed to 1.2x to make it more enjoyable.

Impactful

This book changed my perspective on my home and how we as a family do life. The decluttering process although difficult at times was freeing and became easier as the weeks carried on. I am so happy I picked up this book and have recommended it to many friends and loved ones.

Wanting More Relationship With Myself and Others

I liked the straightforward and practical talk Peter Walsh has about the connection of being overweight and clutter. There are practical strategies and a requirement for reflection.

I would recommend this book for individuals who are ready to make a change in themselves to change their environment.

Overall a good resource

I have read a lot of decluttering and minimalism books over the last year. I appreciate how this book marries weight loss and decluttering. If I had not already read several books of this type, I think I would have gotten more out of it. There is not a whole lot of novel information but it was still worth the read

Struck home!

This makes SO MUCH SENSE!! All the correlations he make hit home for me for sure. I’ve started tackling the clutter (mental and physical) and haven’t paid much attention to my weight but I am feeling better and I’ll settle for that for now.

Bummed it’s not the author narrating

I ordered this right after “It’s All Too Much” and regardless of the speed I’m playing it at I cant follow the narrator’s cadence. Very upsetting because I know the message is good. Plus the author is so entertaining I wanted to hear him come through with his message.

Worth twice the price!

If you could sum up Lose the Clutter, Lose the Weight in three words, what would they be?

It was a very well organized trip through the organizational process. My wife and I listened to this on a 3 week trip through the northeast, it was very enjoyable and stirred a good bit of discussion. Well worth your time.

What did you like best about this story?

The correlation of clutter to weight was a welcome idea to explore and was looked at in a refreshing way!
