Story
There is nothing more essential to our health and well-being than breathing. Yet, as a species, humans have lost the ability to breathe correctly, with grave consequences. Journalist James Nestor travels the world to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. The answers aren’t found in pulmonology labs, as we might expect, but in the muddy digs of ancient burial sites, secret Soviet facilities, New Jersey choir schools, and the smoggy streets of São Paulo. Nestor tracks down men and women exploring the hidden science behind ancient breathing practices.

Debbie Ford explains that the dark side of our personality should not be hidden. By denying our dark side, we reject aspects of our true natures rather than giving ourselves the freedom to live authentically. Here she shows that it is possible to acknowledge and accept our so-called weaknesses, proving that these qualities may be hidden strengths. Full of illuminating stories and practical exercises, Debbie Ford shows us how to reconcile our darker impulses and find the gifts they offer.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Words. We use them all the time, every day, mostly without giving them much thought at all. We take for granted that they’re here at our disposal whenever we need them. Just Another Day In Paradise!
Initially, Dr. Rossman's voice was a bit off-putting for me. Kind of slow and lazy-sounding. But the goal is relaxation, so a dynamic high-energy narrator might defeat the purpose. His voice soothes and comforts, engendering feelings of safety and trust. This is especially beneficial for folks just starting out in the world of meditation.
I spent my career as a psychiatric nurse and psychotherapist, and developed a penchant for meditation, relaxation and guided imagery for myself and frequently helped my patients learn how to use this crucial tool for anxiety, depression, stress and a huge panoply of everyday problems.
Dr. Rossman deftly utilizes a progressive relaxation technique including the themes of safety and security and gently guides the listener into relaxation, with no "performance anxiety". Like when you drive yourself NUTS forcing yourself to RELAX!! FYI: This never works. His approach is slow, making the listener feel accepted and encouraged.
This tape is exactly what I was hoping to find. I have MS, and dealing with many symptoms is discouraging. I've purchased a few tapes, but for me, this fits the bill! And you can bet that I'm going to check out Dr. Rossman's other tapes!!
Blessings ~~

Only one guided relaxation on this cd.
The one he did with Andrew Weil has three relaxation techniques. Much better. However, I find a perfect pic in my head, and he ruins it by saying what time is it what’s the weather like in this place etc. Those questions take me out of the mode. Also, he has a long pause that I usually drift off to sleep with: Then, Very loudly he says; STAY RELAXED. Scares the heck out of me and wakes me right up. Need new material from him and a new guided body relaxation.
