So Good!

Wow, another great one by CM Carney. The audiobook took a bit longer to come out, and it was 100% worth the wait! Armen Taylor does an amazing job narrating and the story is so well done. Loved all the characters being back, that reveal at the end was *chef's kiss*. I can't wait for the next one.

Really good and compelling

I rwally struggled with some of the books before this one. This book was a nice returns to a fun story. The author still has massive holes in the magic system, etc. But if you can overlook that then this was a good book.

Fun easy read

The Ravaged Land, book #7 of the Realms by C.M. Carney was good. This book like most of the others in the series sits somewhere between 3 and 4 stars.

The Good - These books are a fun escape with an imaginative storyline and good writing. Some fun characters and excellent camaraderie between characters. Some decent humor. The narration by Armen Taylor is very good. They are quick reads.

The not-so-great - Gaming aspects can get tedious and boring. The plot in each book, moving from hope ultimately to desperation, only for a miracle escape, is getting a bit wearisome and repetitive. Sometimes the humor can be a bit juvenile.

The Ravaged Land is a bit of an improvement and that is why I am rounding up to four stars. I will likely continue to read this series as they are published.

The Saga Continues

I have followed this series from the beginning. It has had highs and lows. The build up to this point has been really good and the world mechanics make sense. One irritating aspect is the skill call outs that just seem to drag on especially now that the key characters are further along. While I know it’s needed it just seems to be filler and you want to focus on the story progression.

The narration is superb with only a few moments of laughter when past character voices are used again for other characters. Overall the narration has made this book a solid listen from beginning to now.

Definitely a good series and looking forward to the end.

Long preamble; have patience

This book sets up a new story arc. As a result, there's some talk required before it really gets going. It's all interesting, too, and you'll be back in familiar territory by Chapter 22-23. (Boost the speed if you want to get there more quickly, but don't skip over the preamble or you won't really understand what's going on later.)
