About this listen

The offer - $20 billion split between four leading scientists on alternative energies to purchase and then squash their research lines, which include the recent discovery of a powerful new energy source capable of replacing mankind’s reliance on fossil fuels.

There’s no doubt their discovery is worth 10 times that much. But will any one of them live if they refuse?

At the same time, the greatest technological advancement in warfare since the creation of the atomic bomb has been discovered and is being offered to the highest bidder.

There is just one problem, though; the seller might no longer have any control of the weapon.

Can Sam Reilly weave his way through the web of industrial and political espionage before the human race loses its greatest fight for survival?

Another great entry to this series

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a great Sam Reilly book focused on some mad science and potential global devestation. The narration was great and the fast-paced story was really fun to listen to. All in all, worth checking out.

Batten down the hatches!

Everything you wanted to know about rogue waves and plankton but was afraid to ask! In this tale, Sam Reilly is asked to look into the murder of an old friend. The friend, Luke Eldritch had developed a new power source which would revolutionize the fuel industry. He and his scientist partners were offered a large sum of money for the patents but refused. You can imagine what happened next. The method of his demise so fascinated Sam that he agreed to look into the matter. The fatal weapon was a one-hundred-foot rogue wave that destroyed the yacht as he participated in a boat race off the Bimini Islands in the Bahamas. Where this rogue wave came from and how it was directed is the meat of the story. There are more waves to come and the plot definitely thickens. I enjoy the bit of education one gets in the Sam Reilly novels. Whatever task or mission Sam undertakes, you become part of the story and clearly understand what is going on. My Favorite Hero!

Let me start first by saying that I first left a review for the collection this book contained (Sam Reilly Vol.2) but was more than happy to leave an individual review. This series rocks! I love Sam Reilly. As usual, Mr Cartwright takes an event, person or place of historic interest and puts his spin on it, this time about mysterious rogue waves. This installment into the series has plenty of action, adventure, suspense, mystery and science. I love how Sam is a great hero. He may not be exactly realistic (a bit too much good luck) but I love his style and look forward to each new adventure he goes on. The narration was great! David Gilmore really helps to immerse the listener into Sam's world from beginning to end.

Another excellent book in this amazing series

Another excellent book in this great suspenseful, mystery, adventure series. Bringing in real historical events into fictional events. Just like the previous book it starts off with an historical mystery, then switches to the present day to solve the mystery. This book brought in some fun ocean sailing and science with waves physics. The main character Sam Reilly continues to be the typical hero type, indestructible and has amazing luck, but that is what makes these types of books fun. The writing is very descriptive. This book doesn't require you listen to the previous books in the series to enjoy it. Narration continues to be great, voices are very distinguishable and is very engaging.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Enjoyable

Well-written and captivating with well-developed main characters reminding one of Dan Brown’s or Vince Flynn's writing as well as the character of Indiana Jones. So good I re-read it as I was given an Audible copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. I’ll be reading more by this author as I own several more books in the series! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).M

Murder, Mystery and Science

I am really enjoying this series by Christopher Cartwright. This book is a standalone listen and incorporates science with mystery, action, espionage and politics. The premise of the rogue wave is thought provoking, along with the science written behind it. I so enjoy the character of Sam Reilly. He is larger than life like an action hero. I was pulled into the book from the very beginning with its imagery and original storyline. The author weaves some very unexpected twists into the book, that I did not see coming. I loved it! David Gilmore is the perfect narrator for this series. He adds the right suspense, tension, and other emotions to his performance.

Scary Waves and Murdered Scientists

Rogue Wave
Sam Reilly, Book 4
By: Christopher Cartwright
Narrated by: David Gilmore
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. I loved this book best so far in the series! Although it has sci-fi which I love, I had to stretch my imagination a bit but it was still good. That is what books are for anyway, to escape. I loved the premise of the story which I am not telling or it will spoil everything. Once you read it you will see why. Rogue waves are fascinating and horrifying at the same time, I guess that is what really draws me to this also.
The narrator is great for the Sam Reilly novels, a slightly gruff voice that you would expect a manly man to be, lol. He surprises me when he is able to do the females so well.
