About this listen

Change your present and seize your exceptional future by escaping your painful trauma bond, healing, and thriving!

At age twenty-two, Nadine married Jordan Belfort, the nefarious stockbroker portrayed in the Hollywood blockbuster The Wolf of Wall Street. Their marriage began as a fairy tale, but once they were bonded, Jordan’s “mask” began to slip, and acts of infidelity, narcissistic abuse, insatiable greed, and uncontrollable drug addiction became Nadine’s nightmare.

The horrific relationship gave Nadine the inspiration to become a psychotherapist specializing in narcissistic abuse, trauma bonds, and complex PTSD. Her private practice quickly flooded with women recounting an all-too-familiar story of abuse with a pathological partner. Perhaps this scenario resonates with you.

In Run Like Hell, Nadine brings you her personal experience and years of expertise to explain

• the mental health of the narcissistic pathological lover (PL),

• the traits of women who are the perfect “victims” of these PLs,

• how you can leave a trauma bond safely, and

• how you can heal.

Nadine also shows how you and other women can be surthrivers of these trauma bonds and go on to have healthy, positive relationships and lives, armed with knowledge and awareness. So Run Like Hell from damaging trauma bonds and live with awareness, practice self-love and care, and thrive, regardless of your past.

Solid review of Narcissistic abuse, trauma bonding, CPTSD, dark triad, types of abuse etc.
I wish for the audible version, that it was read by a pro. I get that some authors feel they want to be the one to read their words, it doesn’t always work. It sounded very flat, like someone was reading. When done properly there are pauses, and inflections on words that make it sound more dynamic like the author is speaking to you. This reading sounded like she was reading.
Additionally, even if she chose to do the reading, it needs an editor desperately to cut the parts where she repeats herself. It’s almost as if she realized she needed to redo a sentence so she reads it a second time. At first I thought it was me and that I had accidentally hit the replay button. But it happened several times.
It is still a great book that covers this difficult topic and written very well.

Great coverage of Narcissistic abuse by a survivor.

Dr. Nae tells her powerful story, gives examples of her clients and the tools to heal from a trauma bond relationship. She also validates many of the feelings during that healing.

Listed to the book in two days I think-I loved it. And I especially appreciate that she took the time to read it herself. Love her.

She gets it, she knows how to help.

I really enjoyed this book it’s so relatable and easy to understand! It was a bit triggering because it was describing exactly what I had been through but those were moments that also woke me up and helped me think differently about my current situation! I really hope and this book is going to be the one that helps me get through this very difficult time in my life

So Relatable!

Thank you Dr. Nae for turning your hard earned experiences into positive help for the rest of us who are also living in trauma bonds. It’s a life saver! I know I’m going to need to reference back to this information many times, as it is so insightful. Our personalities, bonds developed, views of self and experiences are all considered as she delves into how to heal and grow.

So much growth from this book!

Dr. Nadine basically just read the past 10 years of my life. It is incredibly empowering and affirming to hear someone speak of their experience, from the perspective of survivor. She totally empathizes with other trauma bond relationship survivors, and helps dispel the myths surrounding blame, shame and weakness. It is not our fault, we are not to blame, we have nothing to be ashamed of and we are not weak. I find I need to understand the ‘why’ and make sense of it all before I can move through things, sometimes. You gave this to me, Dr. Nae! I am so very grateful!!!

Finally, someone who actually relates!

I liked the examples to help better understand what the difference between the conditions. The quiz really helped also.

I took notes. she didn't present new concepts but the way it's explained really resonates in a simple and approachable manner to educate and reflect on own experiences. sometimes the reading wasn't as smooth as id appreciate but I'm glad the author read her own book it's less impersonal and endears her to the reader as a real person

pretty good
