About this listen

Change your present and seize your exceptional future by escaping your painful trauma bond, healing, and thriving!

At age twenty-two, Nadine married Jordan Belfort, the nefarious stockbroker portrayed in the Hollywood blockbuster The Wolf of Wall Street. Their marriage began as a fairy tale, but once they were bonded, Jordan’s “mask” began to slip, and acts of infidelity, narcissistic abuse, insatiable greed, and uncontrollable drug addiction became Nadine’s nightmare.

The horrific relationship gave Nadine the inspiration to become a psychotherapist specializing in narcissistic abuse, trauma bonds, and complex PTSD. Her private practice quickly flooded with women recounting an all-too-familiar story of abuse with a pathological partner. Perhaps this scenario resonates with you.

In Run Like Hell, Nadine brings you her personal experience and years of expertise to explain

• the mental health of the narcissistic pathological lover (PL),

• the traits of women who are the perfect “victims” of these PLs,

• how you can leave a trauma bond safely, and

• how you can heal.

Nadine also shows how you and other women can be surthrivers of these trauma bonds and go on to have healthy, positive relationships and lives, armed with knowledge and awareness. So Run Like Hell from damaging trauma bonds and live with awareness, practice self-love and care, and thrive, regardless of your past.

Finally, someone who actually relates!

Dr. Nadine basically just read the past 10 years of my life. It is incredibly empowering and affirming to hear someone speak of their experience, from the perspective of survivor. She totally empathizes with other trauma bond relationship survivors, and helps dispel the myths surrounding blame, shame and weakness. It is not our fault, we are not to blame, we have nothing to be ashamed of and we are not weak. I find I need to understand the ‘why’ and make sense of it all before I can move through things, sometimes. You gave this to me, Dr. Nae! I am so very grateful!!!

So Relatable!

I really enjoyed this book it’s so relatable and easy to understand! It was a bit triggering because it was describing exactly what I had been through but those were moments that also woke me up and helped me think differently about my current situation! I really hope and this book is going to be the one that helps me get through this very difficult time in my life

She gets it, she knows how to help.

Listed to the book in two days I think-I loved it. And I especially appreciate that she took the time to read it herself. Love her.

Essential read!!

This is a powerful book which anyone should read when trying to understand a trauma-bonded relationship - how to heal, leave, learn, trust, and love again. It rips apart the devastating victim blaming that happens as a result of these abusive relationships, and it uses an enlightening combination of research as well as real-life examples. After reading you walk away feeling informed and empowered!

Also, Dr. Nadine Macaluso’s writing style is compassionate, educational, and very enjoyable to digest and read. It’s a mountain of information that feels like a warm embrace rather than a statistical overwhelm. A must read and listen!!

Thank you for this!

Unfortunately, I needed this. I’m already separated from my narcissistic ex husband/abuser but the trauma bond is very strong. I am reading and listening to many books to gain understanding, attempt to heal from what I’ve been through and am currently experiencing, and also to remind myself of the reality of the situation instead of what I wish it was. I have to remember that he won’t change and that the mask is only a mask he’s showing in order to attempt to Hoover me. This book was very helpful and validating. My guess is that if you’re here and considering reading this for your own healing or for someone you love, then you obviously need this and should definitely read it.
