About this listen

What happens when Heaven’s hardest working saint is forced to take a vacation?

In Saint Peter Takes a Holiday, or It's About Time, a reluctant Simon Peter heads for Aruba and a week in the sun. There, he encounters danger, romance, intrigue...and of course comedy. Magic, miracles, sunbathing, and golf, they all happen in this tropical adventure.

Saint Peter Takes a Holiday is the latest novella in the best-selling fantasy comedy series, Circles In Hell. CIH has been compared to other comic works of “Hell Fiction”, such as The Screwtape Letters and Good Omens, and to the paranormal humor of Tom Holt, Christopher Moore, Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams.

The fun and inventiveness you've come to expect - but the voice given to St Peter was really annoying and offputting.

Caine's romp through the afterlife continues

Mark Cain's characters are all so multi-faceted-- and unique. Despite there being so many unique characters, their choices and dialog consistently remain true to their identity. Because of this, I find myself being highly invested in the characters --a seldom occurrence in the majority of fantasy. Michael Gilboe's superb narration further makes the characters come to life. Each one has their own voice (except Peter/Andrew-- who only differ slightly since they're brothers), all of which are what I imagine they would sound like in real life.
Cain and Gilboe-- PLEASE don't stop writing/narrating the series!

Damn near perfect

A nice diversion, but I prefer the main Steve Minion storyline. Had an interesting plot so we will see how it ties in to the rest.

Let me preface this by saying that I absolutely love this series. While this entry is shorter than the others, it was a very fun listen (Mike Gilboe did fantastic, as usual) and had me imagining many of the scenes St. Peter found himself in. I loved the tie-ins to Steve Minion as well as one of my favorites, Beelzebub. It is always a wonderful journey as we continue to explore this version of the afterlife.

This is a great continuation for one of my top three favorite book series. Give it a listen/read, you will feel quite prickly afterward!

This one left me feeling all prickly inside

Loved the whole, often laugh out loud book. Looking forward to more in this series.

Great humor, great characters

Even though there are so many characters, I'm able to remember who everybody is for the most part. if not, it only takes a few seconds before I remember. The use of real people's names and personas was a great idea!

The storytelling is fantastic! This is my very favorite series ever! And I honestly hope there are many, many more. I was quite sad when I came to the final book. (Final only for now,,,,, I hope)

The imaginative writing, along with fantastic narration!

Having read all the previous books, when I found this one is audio, I was quite pleased. As soon as I started listening, that joy faded fast. The vocalization of Peter is somewhere best left on Gilligan’s Island where I assume it arose from. After four chapters, I could not go on. Sorry but this might have been a good story.
