Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Story
Emotions, affect regulation, and interpersonal social behavior are psychological processes that define how people react to events, environmental difficulties, and other people. These processes build our sense of self, help us form connections, and influence whether we feel comfortable in different situations or with different individuals. Despite the fact that these processes may be witnessed scientifically and subjectively, they constitute a complex interplay between our psychological experience and physiological control.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

The instructions provided in this DIY manual are clear and concise. The only criticism I have is that the author didn't discuss auditory forms of bilateral stimulation that may be beneficial along with tactile forms, especially for people who are blind or who otherwise don't use their eyes in a typical fashion.

title is very misleading.
this happens to sound like a long explanation of EDMR therapy and the title is very misleading. basically I felt like I was hearing a simple long winded answer to a question someone asked the Author about what EDMR is.

Lacking in content
The title says it all, but entirely misrepresents that which is suggested: "& workbook." It's like buying a box that says cheese pizza and pepperoni... open the box to find cheese pizza!!... and a card that describes the process of finding the right source of meat and directions to use the meat to make the pepperoni that is described on the box. Shameful this titled book made it to the virtual store.

It’s a ripoff!
It was an overview of the workbook that does not exist. Very upset I spent money on this!
