Publisher's summary

How well would you fare if the apocalypse fell upon you? Could you survive more than a few days? Would you be able to feed yourself? Find clean water? Safe shelter? Heal your wounds?

Allistor is a gamer geek who has spent most of his life indoors, playing virtual reality MMORPGS and reading classic LitRPG books. But when Earth is seized by an ancient race wielding incredibly advanced tech, who transport the entire planet to a new location with twin suns, he finds himself fighting to survive in real life. The human race is declared a contaminant, and the new overlords decree that 90 percent of us will be exterminated. Creatures out of myth and legend are sent to do the killing. Dragons, titans, alien creatures, big and small, all with a hunger for human flesh. Humans who survive the first year will be rewarded.

After seeing his family killed in the first week, Allistor leads a small group of survivors in their struggle to stay alive. Not satisfied with simple survival, he strives to make himself and his people stronger. The new "magic" RPG system that now governs the planet is something he can work with, and teach others to exploit. Thrust into a leadership position, and with vengeance in his heart, Allistor aims to establish a stronghold, then take the fight to the monsters who seek to enslave his people.

I think its Great

So i love how he changed things up and made this feel like this could happen if it was real life, not just some isakai where you enter the game world. I listened to it twice in a row and discovered things I missed. The main character acts like a person, not some hero or jaded man. he learns as he lives. changes and grows.

Ciry building, and exploration

All my favorite narrators teamed up for a great performance. Lots of easter eggs for those that are avid LitRPG readers.

An amazing book with a system apocalypse setting.

Excellent story and narration!!!

I don’t have any complaints about anything with the story or narration. The music and sound effects as well as the excellent narrators made this book even more amazing than it was with just the author’s awesome story. I want to read the next book but I think I’ll wait until the audiobook is available.

Amazing If this is the future I’m ready

Wonderful story, brilliantly detailed every moment had me drawn in the narrative work as well as the characters voice all felt right at home as if I was in the background watching all this happen.

Fantastic

Great story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, laughing and tearing up. Great performances from the voice cast. Every character feels unique and real. Couldn't ask for a better book.

Decent start but with a few issues

So, I really love post apocalypse based content. Its something I am always on a lookout for. I also read Dark Elf Chronicles by this author which has some similarities (but I hated the video game elements of that series). I think there are a lot of things I liked about this series and I had a hard time nailing it down but it didn't feel like a five star book to me so I guess here are my thoughts:

CONS
Main Character - I didn't really like the main character. The main character is supposed to be like a 18 year old gamer but I just felt like I didn't get a consistent feeling that that is who the character was. Having a main character you can relate to and that feels consistent is important and, honestly I just wasn't feeling it with this character.
Forced Memes - There was a point that felt like the entire scene was forced to make a few World of Warcraft jokes. It just felt a little forced and not so subtle to me.

Overall, It really wasn't bad. I liked it but to me a five star book is one I plan to read multiple times. I enjoyed my purchase and I suspect I will buy the next if there is a continuation. The main character just wasn't that enjoyable to me but I liked a lot of the concepts of this world.

Enthralling Drama

Brutally Good with a really great twist on The Gamer!

I had planned to listen to it only when I was driving but the book caught me and I ended up listening to it every free moment I had.
