I liked the story

I've been into this type of book for several years, for some reason I never came across it before it came out in a complete series. Wish the trolls hadn't discouraged the author, I would have defined bought more.

It’s ok

First couple of books were decent, I might even say good, but the third book is trash. The author was too sensitive about previous comments and takes it out in the book. Approximately every other chapter there’s some kind of snipe at reviewers. He decided to cut the series short due to that and it REALLY shows. He squeezed in the final boss fight to the last couple chapters, then the characters say “well that was easy”.

Also while pointing out tropes can be funny, it gets pretty old when most of the book is “hey look at that trope, rant about tropes… trope happens”. That basically describes the third book, and parts of the first two.

Great tongue in cheek LitRPG

Despite the terrible reviews, this book is exactly what it is supposed to be... a LitRPG book that makes fun of the tropes and doesn't take itself too seriously.

Felt like the story was a little to weird

Idk what this book was the book was good golden but his character was uneven the the first two books then half of the 3rd book this book was rocky like one sec the book was good one sec bad plus
The whole first two books he put like no points in
agility or strength he kept on putting it off and that's
something else I kept on listening to the book because
I listened to all the super mage books and thought that he would put some points in those stats plus with all the points he put into intelligence it seemed like he never got any smarter he leveled to slow the anime type thing were going for was cool but dumb because he basically had no one shot skills but now luts get off my bad opinion of the book I have more complaints but the book was good the story was good I liked how funny it was the mc personality and perspective of things that was good too was the way he acted like he knew he was the mc he acted like a emotion less mc I said it was cool and dumb but the way the anime style attached to his personality I liked the tropes that were added it made it seem like he knew what he was doing at first I thought this was going to be a harem book but after I think about it u made super mage so that would not happen overall the book was okay in my book I'll give u 5 stars in every thing because I like Aaron oster as a arther
and ur right I do not write books so what should I know but these series were awesome

Maybe not for me

I got through the first book and all the trope jokes were funny and all but i struggled through the second and don’t know if i can finish it. I like the books but it’s just hard with all the same thing getting pushed in your face maybe one day I’ll try it again but trying to listen to them back to back is a bit rough

super fun till the end

i was enjoying the ride till it just ended. i get why but being so abrupt kind of dissapointed me. i was hoping for more development and resolution but apperently so was the writer. the fourth wall thing was hard to get past. well done until that stuff.

I wish he had finished this.

I absolutely love this series, I have experienced lit rpg books before, and this is at the top of my list of must reads. Man, i wish he had finished this, and I hope he comes back to it. I found the bird the funniest character in this book. It had me laughing so hard I had to stop it at times just to breathe. Seeing as how I have to listen to this on audible, because I am a truck driver(and am supposed to stay on the road), it was difficult at times to keep my lane.I don't know why anyone would down rate this series. It's pretty good, in my opinion. I wish there was more 😪

Mixed

I like the first two books and most of the 3rd. The story was good and the progression as a smooth one even between all the killing of bunnies. lol.

The third book as where this changed. Half way through the book the author just took random jabs at critics of the books and went on rants. The last half of the third book just tossed out the premise of the book, granted I know this is due to the last two books being canceled and he wanted to end the series, but I think this could of been done better without attacking those that don't matter (trolls as in the negative posters).

My thoughts on the authors hate towards his thin skin in regards to critics happened after the book when he had his main character roast a critic. Funny yes but re-enforced the thin skin.

The Hot Fuzz for LitRPG Books

These books are like the Hot Fuzz for LitRPG books identifying many of the tropes and memes for LitRPG books and then being guilty of so so SO many of them.

The main protagonist is not an overachiever, he does not acclimate to his forced insertion in to a game like world and is guilty of excessive sarcasm and profanity. He wants out of the world and he is wiling to step all over the locals to accomplish that goal. If you expect this guy to become a hero of his little game world community and acclimate to the world then this LitRPG book is not for you. If you can appreciate the satire and tolerate the profanity then this three book combo is worth the credit as it is hilarious.
