About this listen

This title will be streaming in Audible Plus through September 1st, 2021.

With his duel fast approaching, Lindon is locked away in prison.

As a Blackflame, he is too dangerous to remain free. The Skysworn, protectors of the Empire, have imprisoned him to keep him under control until the day of his promised fight arrives.
When it does, he will face Jai Long.

But a new danger approaches the Empire, closer every day. One of the Dreadgods stirs, earlier than predicted, and even a brush with such a creature could be the end of the Blackflame Empire. Only the Skysworn stand between the people of the land and total annihilation.

And Lindon may be forced to join them.

That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. let Travis and Will Wight whisk you away!

Wei Shi Lindon continues to follow the dangerous and forbidden path (forbidden because the path he walks always leads to insanity and destruction) of the Blackflame Warrior! People distrust him because of his warrior image, so when Lindon would join the Skysworn and fight alongside them, all they see is a monster...but Lindon with his unique, "pure" twin souls, has found a way to negate the debilitating effects caused by using Blackflame magic
Undaunted, Lindon fights alongside his best friend Yerin, and as always, their Patron Underlord, Eithan, keeps egging both of them to do the impossible and fight against the Deadbeasts!
I would definitaly recommend this fantastic series to lovers of classic fantasy, and even fans who love anime/manga will find plenty of visual cues to savor in Will Wight's action-packed stories... So let Travis Baldree, and Will Wight whisk you away!

Part of me understands some people saying this feels incomplete. But I simply felt it was a fantastic story that isn't over yet so I want to keep listening and can't...yet. KEEP THEM COMING!!!!

Quality is ebbing.

I am not at all surprised that this book is not as good as the previous ones. The level of excellence that had been established is very difficult to maintain.

Outstanding!

when I originally started reading this series I had some trouble getting into the first book then I started relating it to Anime. the book is intelligently wrought, it keeps your attention and makes me hunger for More. this series would be a very intelligent use of your credits... the only bad thing is the length of the books I usually prefer books but no between 12 to 14 hours, but the content is well worth the read. and the narrator is also easy to listen to, and understand.

Absolutely addictive

It was really great to see the growth and challenges faced by the characters. I love the complexity and world building. The narrator does a superb job bringing the story to life.

too short

I been enjoying the series but the books are end to fast for me. In some areas it feels like the book is just setting up for the next one before getting to the last few chaps. Not only that the book had me wondering why some information wasn't given which could have helped both parties. hopefully I'll found out in the next book

The Duel and a Dreadgod

Another excellent entry in the Cradle series.

Jai Daishou is making trouble for Eithan, which means trouble for Lindon. Jai being alive causes a serious problem as he becomes increasingly desperate for a way to hurt Eithan, personally.

Great world building in this novel.

SPOILERS BELOW
***************************************

Jai Daishou grabs a piece of treasure from "the labyrinth" and just having the door open was enough to stir a Dreadgod, the Bleeding Phoenix, which is related to the red (not) rope Yerrin has. He picks up the Archstone and pulls it out during the duel between Lindon and Jai Long, right after Jai Long severs Lindon's right arm (winning the duel).

Eithan kills Jai Daishou (for keeps this time), then is summoned to the emperor because anytime someone breaches the labyrinth, bad things can happen. Which they do.

During the ensuing chaos, Lindon gets a new arm, made with the Ancestor's Spear that was such a big deal in the last 2 novels. Yerrin defeats her parasite and now controls her Blood Shadow.
We meet a new friend, Akura Mercy, who is from the larger Empire.
And finally learn about Eithan's marble, which shows a message to Lindon and Yerrin.

Time for the next book!

still good

my second run through the series in preparation for the final book and this part still felt underwhelming and incomplete. I understood better this time that the book is focused, centered, and plotted around yerrin than Lindon, specifically overcoming her blood shadow... not that that's a done deal. anyways, it's still good but it's tough if I try to judge this book by itself. I thought I might hate books one and two more the second time, but I think I liked em even more knowing all that I do, but yeah .. this one. oh well, I remember ghostwater being possibly my favorite, so I'm excited for that one now.
