Publisher's summary

In the choking smog and steel of City Nineteen's slums, nature didn't seek a warrior—it sought a crusader.

For a young mycologist raised in the city's bleakest corners, life offers scant opportunities and even less justice. But destiny has chosen them to navigate treacherous union politics, decipher the mysteries of their birthplace, and unravel the enigma of a god-like master. Their goal? To mend the fractured bond between man and nature.

Yet, as shadows deepen and they discover the depths of the city's rot, they begin to wonder: Is the only true remedy to set the world aflame and rise from its ashes?

A fun way to pass the time.

Not to serious. A fun listen. I have a little trouble picturing the MC as a child. definite potential. looking forward to the next book.

Fun and funny

Just the whole idea of this little girl running around this city, full of horror s, and whipping ass and forgetting names is so entertaining !

Another great entry!

I honestly can't get enough of this series! I'm looking forward to book 3! I have yet to find a book written by RavensDagger I don't like.

Complex Characters

it's always fascinating when a character acts in a way that fits their character but doesn't perfectly solve their solutions. Or they overlook an opportunity bc of lack of knowledge. Biomancy is a powerful school of magic, for healing, monster making, and poisoning + plaguing.

Revenge is a dish best served with mushrooms.

I really enjoy this type of book. Where a person from our world uses their knowledge to gain a leg up. My only criticism of this book is that they need to boost the male voice characters' audio a little bit, It's hard to hear if there's other loud sounds in the room.

Dark, but good

I think this is the darkest series yet from this author. It definitely isn't a cinnamon bun, but I like it so far.

If you liked book 1, you’ll like book 2

The author does well at continuing the story and characters. The violence feels like it needs a little more motivation. I don’t mind violence, but I need the character justify it to themselves before and after. Especially for characters that haven’t directly killed someone before, otherwise the character can come off a little off their rocker, which I’m also fine with. Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was, pleasantly, exactly what I expected.

Still Not Great

I was unimpressed with the first book despite being a fan of RavensDagger, but I thought maybe the story would pick up steam and get better in this second book. It does not get better. If anything, this one is pretty boring. It's basically equal parts stat spam, experimenting with mushrooms, and deciding it would be a bad idea to do something only to immediately turn around and do it as if she never thought the opposite. I'm sorry, but this was really quite bad but at least not so terrible that I couldn't finish it, so it gets three stars.
