Atkins "The 100"

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes I would because the book focus is on the sugar contents in carbs; the book does a comparison with calories but it is still counting out the sugar contents of the food. (From the carbs and the sugar that's in the food.)

I saw this explained on a TV show but did not think much about it until I listen to the audio tape by Jorge Cruise. This is good information but be aware, this is the same as the Atkins diet.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I like the focus on the sugar contents. It is making me aware of my sugar intake. I did not like the interviews; both men were trying to prove how unhealthy sugar is; I don't agree, I believe all foods are beneficial in moderation and I'm not giving up sugar.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes he did, I enjoyed the audio. I listen to the tape in my car and in my home, Fred was a very good narrator.

Was The 100 Unabridged worth the listening time?

Yes it was, however I found "The 100" diet to be the same as the Atkins diet. I lost weight with the Atkins diet but could not stay on the diet after the induction. I don't have a need for a lot of bread in my diet but after a few days on Atkins my body 'begged' for some bread. And I tried to follow this plan and did not last two days, again, my body craved grain foods.

Any additional comments?

I see that Cruise has a lot of weight lost books but I would recommend that he focus on health not weight lost, and how to incorporate all foods into a diet with the focus on reducing the sugar intake but don't turn it into a low carb diet.

The freebie foods in the book all have carbs and thereby all contain sugar calories; I believe that Cruise is making the same mistake that FDA made when they put out a pyramid that reduced the fats and increased the grains, fruits and veggies; people got fatter. Help people be balance, how much sugar a day is acceptable?

Current and informative information

Would you listen to The 100 Unabridged again? Why?

I enjoyed this book. I have read Jorge Cruise books in the past and have always found his approach to exercise and dieting to my liking. No extremes here. The information provided in this book is refreshingly current, informative and very interesting. With the current rates of obesity rising so quickly we must be doing something wrong. Perhaps here lies the answer.

What did you like best about this story?

My original thought was that this is just another low carb diet book but when moving into the second half of the book I found that it was refreshingly different approach to dieting. Extremes were put aside and diet and exercise choices were provided.

What does Fred Berman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice has a lot of character and an excellent narrator.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

How did we get it sooo wrong.

Any additional comments?

PDF provided was again informative and a great guide.

Enlightened

A calorie is not just a calorie when you have knowledge of a calorie. I truly gain some insight I didn't even consider or gave any thoughts to.

Most missing

I never received PDF files that were the majority of the chapters and outline the diet. What good is the diet if you don't have the food lists etc.?

No PDF

The meat of the book is the diet meal plan and the list of the 100 located on the PDF. Well it wouldn’t download. So what’s the point of buying the audible? Very dissatisfied .
