About this listen

Are you wondering how to go on after the death of someone you love? Are you longing for healing, peace, and a new sense of order in your world? This practical guide provides training in grief resilience, which is actually a skill set that can be learned, practiced, and incorporated into your life.

Written by a licensed clinical social worker who is also a bereaved mother, the book presents a unique system of coping with death that combines insights from both her professional background and personal experience. This approach builds grief resilience and transforms the listener from heartache to healing, wellness, and growth.

Losing someone you love can be a devastating experience. It is often excruciatingly painful and hard to wrap your mind around. Trying to take in the reality of death and then figuring out how to move forward can leave you overwhelmed, shattered, heartbroken, and frightened. And because it feels impossible to accept the unacceptable, we learn by osmosis to put misery on the back burner and pretend we're mostly okay.

But we're not okay; this is not business as usual. We're left with that burning question: How do I go on? The 4 Facets of Grief is a fresh approach to navigating loss and death, incorporating the most current thinking on resilience and growth.

Boring.... Like listening to paint dry

This is the last thing I would recommend to a grieving person! Listening was a painful experience. Too much repetition. The author told me what she was going to say, then said it, and followed up with telling me what she said. I may be dealing with grief, but I can hear just fine, no need to tell me things three times. If I need to review it I can listen again. I'm trying to care for myself, not review for a test. Oh, and then there were the lists. What the af? I can't imagine any person who enjoys hearing a list being read aloud, unless perhaps, as a tool for sleeping.

I did want to learn about the 4 Facets of Grief, so I listened the whole way through. They are in there, along with some helpful information and couple of good anecdotes from the authors own life. Perhaps with help of a good editor this could become a great pamphlet or short ebook, but don't waste your time on listening to this one.
