Publisher's summary

After being on yo-yo diets almost all her life, Sue Reynolds was still morbidly obese, but decided to try one more time without much hope for positive results. But this time was different. She was tired of not being able to tie her own shoes, fit in restaurant booths, or walk more than a few feet. She was ready.

The Athlete Inside follows Reynolds' journey as she lost 200 pounds and found an athlete hiding inside her body. From her first walk to the neighbor's mailbox to finishing sixth at the World Triathlon Championship, Reynolds discovered the joy of conquering fear and pride to find that the best version of herself had been there all along.

A world-class triathlete and a grandmother, Reynolds is proof that you can transform your life at any age. Her story is one of hope, tenacity, and faith, as she committed to doing whatever it took to be among the best triathletes in the world. It's a story about a unique intergenerational relationship between Reynolds and the young coach who earned her trust and helped her develop fitness and confidence. It's a story about the power of kindness and the spiritual growth Reynolds experienced as she realized the compassion that surrounded her was the face of God. Ultimately, it's the story of how each of us can discover amazing gifts and talents within ourselves.

This book was such an inspiration to me. I am currently in a weight loss challenge. I have gone from struggling to run .5 mile to now 3 miles and have signed up for a 5k for the end of my competition. Sue's story helped me see all of the ups and downs in the journey of making serious change in our lives.

Wow! 335 to 135. Obese to World racing!

If you want to be inspired, you'll find it here. Sue Reynolds lost 200 pounds and qualified to compete in the age group championships in short-course triathlon. Sue is candid with her fears throughout her journey - and shares the mental tricks she used to get past her self-doubts. Whether you want to do an Ironman or want to also lose weight, this book will help motivate you to know that it IS possible. The narration is also very well done (you'll note "triathlon" and "triathlete" are always pronounced correctly!)

What an inspiring story - and well-narrated

Loved this inspirational story as I am in the middle of my own journey to lose 100 lbs. Sue Reynolds shares not only the triumphs but the struggles and fears she faced along the way.

Inspiring and Motivating!

It's a good story but very broad in scope. Definitely no weight loss tips or training help. There could actually be a second book that would most likely be even more successful if she focused on the smaller picture. Her diet of oatmeal and yogurt was just glossed over--which I realized was probably due to the fact that it was only a measly 1000 calories (and that was while she was hardcore training for triathlons!). Zero guidance with training. She seemed to struggle going for a short walk to running to hiring a professional coach in a few pages. Inspiring story but no real meat to dig your teeth into and tear off for yourself.

Was hoping for tips and specifics
