Being Happy

For me, this book is part contemplative and part travel - a great combination! I would recommend this book to people seeking to cultivate a grateful attitude, a different mindset, while also feeding their wanderlust. I continue to be amazed at how people are capable of happiness no mater where they are and what their current circumstances are. That is such a good lesson to be reminded of.

Fun and Informative

Helen Russell is happy! And delivers plenty of information in her Atlas of Happiness. I laughed my way through it and will listen again while I decide whose form of happiness best suits me. A good book for coronavirus lockdown. Well written, chatty and smart.

Good, but not quiet Danishly

I really loved Living Danishly and Leap Year. I hoped the same for this book. it is good but it was more like a random collection of thoughts than a cohesive boom or essay. A chapter to provide the themes from these counties' cultures would have made it a 5 star for me. otherwise it was to typical, delightful Helen Russell book.

Atlas makes my day!

Having listened to The Year of Living Danishly in 2018, while working in my studio, and thoroughly enjoying it, I recently stumbled upon The Atlas of Happiness. Helen references her move to Scandiland. I wonder if I would try out one of these other happiness choices in a more temperate climate. Costa Rica sounds enticing and it would give reasons to become bilingual, at least conversationally.
Many visions of travel plans have been sown. Cheers!

Wonderful Book to Cheer You!

I listened to this while in covid-19 quarantine. I would have enjoyed it anytime, but especially now it’s great to hear how other cultures embrace life and create happiness and fulfillment. I am going to buy the hardcover as well for further study. This author is witty and keeps it interesting. The first and longest (I believe) chapter was Australia, which I found the least interesting. So if you’re bored on Oz keep reading!

Take my Money!!!

This book is SO inspiring & right on track with what I’ve come to expect from Helen Russell. She is amazing! What a bonus to have it narrated by her as well. From now on just assume that when she writes a new book I’m over here throwing my money at it as fast as possible:)

Dreadful

I did not finish this book. I am Canadian and found the Canada section appalling . Horrifyingly bad.
