Best variation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Excellent AI narration. Best I’ve heard.

This variation is better than the original version written by Jane Austen. Each of the 5 Bennett sisters are accounted for with wonderful futures.

Amazing

This is a fantastic book. Adam Bennett, a new character is introduced. He is Mr. Bennett's son by a wife previous to Fannie Bennett. Adam is the true heir to Longbourne. Adam's mother died in childbirth and Mr. Bennett left the baby in the care of his maternal grandparents. He kept his first marriage and the existence of the baby boy secret. His second wife, Fannie, didn't know of the boy so she was always In fear of being thrown into the hedgerows when Mr. Bennett dies. Adams grandparents died when he was about twelve and Mr. Bennett signed him up in the Navy and virtually forgot about him. Adam flourished in the navy and was a celebrated Captain, later an Admiral. However secrets have a way of coming out and the existence of Adam became known to the Bennett family and others. All the P&P characters, plus some new ones, appear in this book. It is absolutely mesmerizing - I could not stop listening. I highly recommend this book. The only complaint is the virtual voice narration. There are many glitches and too little emotion, but it still does not fatally diminish the enjoyment of the book.

Loved Adam!

This was a well written PPV. The story is engaging and the characters are likable. The characters are true to Jane Austen’s beloved characters. I plan to hear it again.

Must Read!

Absolutely loved this rendition of Pride and Prejudice. I’m certain Jane Austen would have approved!

Unique spin on P&P

This was a good story line. The computer voice was a bit annoying so at times it was hard to focus on the story. But I enjoyed having a different heir for Longbourn

Great JAFF for the Bennetts

Great story from beginning to end. The only complaint is the “Virtual voice” that is happening a lot lately. It’s wooden, says “hashtag “ when typo in script plus “Rossing” instead of Rosings which takes you out the story. There are others and hope that this be recorded over by Stevie Zimmerman or Harry

Unique P&P variation

What if Mr. Bennett was married previously and had a son? That’s the premise of this adaptation, and the author weaves an interesting storyline around this plot.

I read Austen’s original and just accepted the fact that Mr Bennett didn’t manage his property well and the girls had zero dowry. And how Bingley had zero spine and allowed Darcy and his sisters to sway his decision to leave Jane. And how Darcy was arrogant and assumed Elizabeth would just jump at the honor of being his wife with zero effort on his part.

I like when an adaptation takes those facts and weaves the consequences.

In this adaptation, we meet some new characters and learn more about the characters we love and whom we love to hate.

You’re not going to find a lot of Darcy and Elizabeth. But there’s enough to make it enjoyable. What you will find are pretty decent character development with other key players. And. Frankly I enjoyed meeting Mr Bennett’s heir and I was invested in his storyline.

I’ve read or listened to likely 100 P&P variations. This one is unique in its premise. And because of that, it’s worth a listen.

Yes this is virtual voice. Yes this book could use editing. However. It’s a fun variation and I found it worth a listen because of the characterizations and storyline.

Good Idea but Poor Execution

I really liked the idea of a Bennet son and heir, but I found the story awkward, uneven, and with odd errors, like using the wrong pronoun (His for a female), repeating something a character says immediately but in slightly different words or having a character do something and then explaining what was done. I don’t know if this is an example of an AI- generated story, but it would explain all the mistakes. And then there is the Virtual Voice unemotional narration.

STARTED GREAT...

I was very pleased with the start of this story: a unique perspective, a great idea for a new plot. All sorts of different things occur, with characters' personalities very different, outcomes with big surprises. First, however, the text needs a good editing...the writing becomes careless at times, the choice of words sloppy, and too much repeat of same things. The worst drawback is the infernal virtual voice, that mispronounces words, and while reading, pronounces, 'HASHTAG', which is only a symbol in the text.
I think this may be a good new writer for P&P variations, but she needs to develop some nuance of characterization and plot, some originality in dialog, so as not to repeat, again and again, the same actions, same emotional arcs. The ending, sadly, is drivel, like a Disney story, or a deus ex machina fixing everything in an instant. I'm addicted to P&P variations, and always hoping for more good writers to come up with something new--Miranda Flan almost got there, then became lazy, dropped the creative ball and left me disappointed.
