About this listen

Randidly Ghosthound threw down the gauntlet, and his closest supporters have taken it up. Soon, the two sides will clash in the Challenge of Donnyton.

As both make their preparations, the goals of the two are very different. Randidly wants to show how they cannot rest on their laurels, how under the System, there will always be one more monster, one more Calamity, one more "Creature" watching the development of their planet and plotting how to extract everything of value.

He witnessed the brutality of the Second Calamity on Tellus and does not want his own world to be so scarred.

Yet on the other side of the challenge, the people of Earth want to send a different message: Randidly Ghosthound, you do not need to carry this burden alone. Chasing his shadow, the people of Earth have grown strong.

In the wake of the challenge, Randidly will head into a Dungeon to train. There, he will discover clues of how ancient the struggle to escape the Calamities truly is.

And he will also unearth a darkness that can wound even the System itself...

the new direction of the story

that the ghosthound didn't more power over his own soul in his soul skill. felt like he still should be God like inside his own soul.

I really loved this installment in the series and where the story has continued to grow.

Another story in the long saga ends with a cliffhanger

Honestly there's so much internal battling (literally) in this book.

I find we can't get to the point.
Every faction and side character has long detailed motivations that I feel the story gets dragged down and we don't progress.
The Donnytown fight took forever to actually happen, and that was introduced in the last book as about to go down.
Erickson Steel has political rivals we don't care about, yet we spend a tedious amount of focus on these two bit side villains instead of the big overarching plots.
Nothing about Shall or his transcendence in this book.. sad let down.
The Order dukis formations, not really interesting, but I feel that they're more poinient than the donnytown squads, although those squads are something I'd rather follow, but thats my opinion.
A random nemesis kidnapping. (interesting, yet always vague and half explained for their full purpose)
Frog people potentially invading? Awesome. But we left that in a hurry.
Just like Ghosthound's Skill paths, the investment to this story is daunting and without a clear end.

I'm all for the ride, and want to make it to the end, but can we get there before book 15? I don't know.
Hoping book 9 comes soon, and the journey continues and keeps focus on the main plot points.
Cheers

Great writing and characters

One of my favorite series. The various characters and interweaved plots are always engaging. The performance being absolutely top notch just adds to the enjoyment. Cheers!

more brooding and isolation

I understand his issues with emotions but it gets a bit annoying when everything he does leads down the lone wolf trope. He continuously follows similar paths to the monsters he hunts while driving a wedge between himself and humanity. It's starting to get to the point where he's the "pitiful tortured soul" who no one understands. It's frustrating for someone that's supposed to be a leader but lacks some kinds of self awareness.

P.S. We don't need each skill to be a sentence. 4+ words for an evasion skill is a violation

The emotion

I love the spiteful resentment and the manic glee the actor is able to portray!

You can’t help but want more, and more

Since book one, watching the underdog become wonder dog, and then more, takes u away to a world where the imagination is only limited by ur dreams, and nightmares…

Good storytelling

I like the story, but the description of some of the fights are frustrating. I Lost count, but I believe the writer used more than 10 chapters and several hours to describe the last of a series of fights. The over dramatic and endless description is excruciatingly boring. Hope the writer will focus more on storyline and world building in the next novel.
