About this listen

Alex Rogers is a young, intelligent workaholic who jumped from high school to college to a technical career with little time for a personal life. With his dog Kinsey, he pursues his only vice, wandering in the wilderness areas of Washington State, dreaming of adventure.

Without warning, he and Kinsey find themselves in an unfamiliar land, unable to speak the language and fighting for their lives. It is here that Alex discovers he has been dropped in the middle of an ancient struggle for power, in a land where magic replaces science. If he can survive the near future, he has the potential to become a great wizard feared by the very people he needs to protect.

good start but cliche finish

This book started out interesting but partway through it began feeling very cliche. MC has too many things go his way to easily.
At least it isn't a harem book.
Narration is the real attention of this book. I plan on looking for others read by him.

Great Book

The most impressive part was when he got the fire going with a fire bow in only ten minutes by himself.

A fun listen

This books story is nothing new but that isn't really a bad thing in my opinion. It kept me intertained and moved at a fairly fast pace so I didn't get bogged down in over complicated subplots and such. over all a good book to listen to while doing something like work or playing a game.

Fantasy & Full of Action = Fun Adventure

This book is an action packed alternate fantasy about a guy who is transported from the world we know of science and technology to one built on the laws of magic. If your thinking that the concept sounds cliche your not wrong; boy get transported to alternate fantasy world certainly isn't new but cliche does not equal bad. The author takes the concept and tells an enjoyable story. I don't think there was a wasted scene at all in the book which is great... though I didn't go though it with a fine tooth comb. I am sure you could poke holes if you tried hard enough; heck I was enjoying it so I probably subconsciously dismissed any note worthy incongruities.

Lit Rpg and light fantasy readers will probably like this...

Enjoyable...but missing a bit of excitement!

Enjoyable story, but missing the intenseness of the events that are occurring in the book. Would like to had more of a turn pager.

Average

Average story, average characters. Way above average narrator, There is one female warrior, who slowly transforms over the course of the book into a 16-year-old with a crush who can’t keep her hands off of the main character.

The story is just fine until the last chapter where the suppose female warrior becomes a damsel in distress that must be rescued by the main character .

The ending left a bad taste in my mouth, making it pretty much a forgone conclusion that I will never get booked 2.

Nothing new

A rather common story without the best character development. I still enjoyed listening to the entire book and would recommend it to anyone who wants a bit of light reading.
