good book but...

I'm a big fan of this series and enjoy these books greatly. However why does it seem like the MC is getting weaker. He was pretty over powered but it seems like he's having a harder and harder time unless he gets help. Also I'm sure the story said that strong magicians were rare but stronger and stronger enemies seem to be popping up everywhere. meh still a good series.

Wanda's bubbly bottom! I am in love with The Dreamlights!

Book Review: The Old Family by Alvin At Waters

Let me just say, The Old Family is a literary gem that feels like stepping into a world brimming with heart, depth, and unforgettable characters. Alvin At Waters has crafted a masterpiece where each character feels like someone you know—or wish you did.

The characters are the soul of this story. I found myself completely immersed in their lives, cheering for their wins, mourning their losses, and savoring every moment of their growth. The character development is simply phenomenal; it’s as if they grow right alongside you as you read. Every interaction and decision feels intentional, layered, and real.

And don’t even get me started on the potential for spin-offs. Wanda (you know exactly who I mean!) is sitting on a goldmine of stories waiting to be told. With a cast this rich and vibrant, there’s no way this universe can stop with just one book. I’m already imagining five—yes, FIVE—more installments, and I know there’s enough brilliance here to carry several spin-offs too. Alvin At Waters has created a world that could easily become a series staple on my bookshelf.

If you love books that wrap you in a family dynamic that’s as complicated as it is endearing, with characters that linger in your heart long after the final page, The Old Family is a must-read. Here’s hoping Alvin At Waters hears my plea for more stories because I’m not ready to leave this family behind.

the development of the characters.

how pieces to the story lines start to come together, as well as character reveals.

Good but distracting audio issues

I’m satisfied with the continuation of the story and really looking forward to the next book. That being said, I do wish there was a character chart of some kind or a brief allegiances section read prior to the prologue. It may just be me, but with so many characters and outside elements involved at this point I’m starting to get some characters (as well as their goals) confused. As for the performance I’m mostly satisfied, but there were multiple times when I could hear the narrator’s phone(s?) vibrating which was very distracting. Plus I’m not sure what it’s called, but I really dislike the changes to narration that are made whenever a “demonic” voice is described or used. It’s nowhere near as often as in previous installments, but when used the words spoken are nearly unintelligible and I have to rewind multiple times to parse out the sentence.

Continuation of a great story!

Good story and great comedy that doesn’t cheapen the story. Voice actors are good and convey the characters well.

Good story but

This was a good book a nice continuation of the story but. This author likes to juggle storylines and plots, like a master juggler. With a long gap between books, sometimes it’s hard to keep track of all the different storylines and events. This author is juggling. On more than one occasion I found myself confused about who somebody was and what was going on. This may not happen if you read all of the books back to back. But it can be quite confusing when you have to wait for the next book to come out.

A few technical issues still a solid book.

If you’ve made it this far in the series, you know what you’re in for. Fluctuates between overpowered hero, goofy sidekicks, and challenges that the main character cheats to beat.
