About this listen

In the darkness of a vast cave system, cut off from the world for millennia, blind creatures hunt by sound. Then there is light, there are voices, and they feed. Swarming from their prison, they multiply and thrive. To scream, even to whisper, is to summon death.

Deaf for many years, Ally knows how to live in silence. Now, it is her family's only chance of survival. They must leave their home, shun others, and find a remote haven where they can sit out the plague. But will it ever end? And what kind of world will be left?

Good read, good pace but I dislike the ending and wish there was more to it.

It's a very good story but as an animal lover there are some parts of the story that are so very difficult to listen to. Those sections still haunt me and are very unsettling. Over all it is a good story and I did enjoy it despite the bad parts.

Good but difficult

Got it because of the movie on Netflix and was not disappointed. So good, I've already recommended it to a hand full of friends.

Very good

I loved the premise of it, loved the unique spin on this kind of scenario. just wasn't crazy about the ending.

Great, unsatisfying ending though

I really enjoyed this book but it’s like the author just wanted to stop writing

Great book, terrible ending

Im not very god at writing reviews but I really enjoyed this book. The only downfall was that I was disappointed in the ending. I know it leaves a lot to the imagination but come on! 4 out of 5 stars. Tim Lebbon still remains my favorite author.

great listen!!

I have very few books unfinished in my library, but I am sad to say this title is joining them. It is extremely slow going and unneeded information in plenty. The suspense is dragged out and becomes tiresome, even when dealing with human atrocities. I understand the draw but can't stay on the hook for longer than twenty or thirty minutes before my eyes glaze and have to rewind to understand why I feel lost.
I love the idea of a deaf protagonist dealing with creatures drawn to sound but having two narrators doing a chapter a piece to make their perspectives feels overlapping. I love their voices but the story feels both jumbled and disjointed.

Disappointed

From the start of the book to the end of it I was captivated, and I felt I was out with the family, trying my best to keep silent and avoid the danger. Very well written and had excellent narration.

Good from start to finish

His book breaks one of my golden rules, and so it must lose a star. That being said, it’s totally worth a listen.
