About this listen

From the #1 Kickstarter campaign of all time—#1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson adds to his Cosmere universe shared by Mistborn and The Stormlight Archive with a new standalone novel that combines fantasy and science fiction. Narrated by William DeMeritt.

Running. Putting distance between himself and the relentless Night Brigade has been Nomad’s strategy for years. Staying one or two steps ahead of his pursuers by skipping through the Cosmere from one world to the next.

But now, his powers too depleted to escape, Nomad finds himself trapped on Canticle, a planet that will kill anyone who doesn’t keep moving. Fleeing the fires of a sunrise that melts the very stones, he is instantly caught up in the struggle between a heartless tyrant and the brave rebels who defy him.

Failure means a quick death, incinerated by the sun…or a lifetime as a mindless slave. Tormented by the consequences of his past, Nomad must fight not only for his survival—but also for his very soul.

Note from Brandon:

I sincerely believe that stories don’t live until they’re heard. While I would write even if no one were listening—it’s who I am—I thrive because I know the stories are being brought to life by all of you. In this, stories are a special kind of art. Each of you will visualize this book, and its characters, a little differently—you will each put your own stamp on it, making it yours. I don’t believe a story is quite finished until that has happened—until the dream in my head has become a reality (even if briefly) in yours.

And so this book is yours, as they all are once you listen to them. Thank you so much for bringing life to my work, and to the Cosmere.

A Little Sad

A really good book but it was a little sad. I was unsure about the narrator change but it did not make me think any less about the book.
Now I just need to wait until December to listen to Book 5 of the Stormlight Archive.

The fast pace makes you keep listening.

That it was directly tied to Stormlight was awesome. It was an action, mystery, sci-fi, and just dang good story.

Best hopefully a new series ever!!

Love the narrator couldn’t stop listening to the book. Finished it in one go I’m tired. I hope Mr. Sanderson you pick up this character and create many more fabulous books.!

Great Book

This was an awesome book, and the world it takes place on is so creative. I do wish that it was read by michael kramer, but William DeMeritt did a good job. Overall, a great listen. :)

The narration.

The story, narration, and imagination are very well done and imaginative.

I don't like how the narrator represented the voice of Wit and Zeal, but overall the narrator is very talented,

I enjoyed the story and The concept of the world the characters live in.

The Personal connection to our own lives and internal struggles.

To any Brandon Sanderson fans. Especially to those who have followed the Stormlight series and the characters of Bridge Four. This is a “must read”. Sanderson brings to life the personal struggles and philosophy that we can internalize into our own personal lives in some way. For The Greater Good.

Very cosmere-esk

Great to expand your view of the cosmere. Fast paced and exiting. Very cosmere-esk but also a nice mix of tropes for familiarity and originality that I love

Great story, Poor voice acting

I admit that I love almost everything Brandon writes. But I must say, the production quality on this reading is way below average. The dynamics are off, the voice sounds muted, and the voices he uses, especially for Wit, are just so off. I can not even listen to this in my car because of how poorly balanced the voice acting is. Save your credits and just read this one.
