About this listen
In business, and in life, everything is changing fast, apart from how we behave. Our ways of thinking and making decisions have changed little since we lived in agricultural and industrial societies, but the problems we now need to solve are entirely different. It requires a revolution in thinking and behavior to meet the challenges that now face us and to avoid disaster we need to totally rethink the model.
Part business biography, part business blueprint, Total Rethink explains how this can be done. Successful telecoms entrepreneur David McCourt lays out the reality of the dangerous situation we find ourselves in and suggests solutions which will empower everyone to repair the damage we have already done, and prepare for the dramatic changes to come.
- Change the way you think and behave to be a true entrepreneur
- Understand why incremental change no longer works
- Move at the speed of the times we're living in to keep up
- Find trusted, effective guidance you can put to practice today
Written by a sought-after speaker, businessman, and entrepreneur, the advice in this audiobook will help you learn to think - and live - like a revolutionary.

On any given morning, you might wake up and shower with water, make your coffee with water, flush your toilet with water—and think nothing of it.But around the world, more than three-quarters of a billion people can’t do any of that—because they have no clean water source near their homes. And 1.7 billion don’t have access to a toilet. This crisis affects a third of the people on the planet. It keeps kids out of school and women out of work. It traps people in extreme poverty. It spreads disease. It’s also solvable.

Story
When asked if they'd rather receive aid or work, the world's poorest people will always choose work. But the world's richest countries continue to send aid, targeting the symptoms, not the causes of poverty. Western countries have the best intentions, but charity-based aid often does more harm than good, and billions of people continue to suffer. According to Leila Janah, giving dignified, steady, fair-wage work is the most effective way to eradicate poverty.

Story
When scholars write the history of the world twenty years from now, what will they say was the most crucial development in the first few years of the twenty-first century? The attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11 and the Iraq war? Or the convergence of technology and events that allowed India, China, and so many other countries to become part of the global supply chain for services and manufacturing, creating an explosion of wealth in the middle classes of the world's two biggest nations?

When Mark Rampolla filled a notebook with potential start-up ideas, his wife asked him some tough questions. What about this idea is exciting, beyond the possibility of a profit? How will it fit into a life that makes you and your family happy? How will it change the world? Eventually Mark found his great idea: coconut water. He had seen the developing world use coconut water, but this valuable resource was being discarded in the US. While taking on the beverage industry was a big goal - high-hanging fruit - it was worth the risk.

The Myth: If you get into a good college, study hard, and graduate with excellent grades, you will be pretty much set for a successful career. The Reality: The biggest thing you won't learn in college is how to succeed professionally. Some of the smartest, most successful people in the country didn't finish college. None of them learned their most critical skills in an institution of higher education. And like them, most of what you'll need to learn to be successful you'll have to learn on your own, outside of school.

Scarcity isn't just one of the key principles of influence, it's arguably the most powerful—invoking the kind of primal instincts that were essential to our ancestors' survival. It's also the explanation for why, in the mid-1990's, $29.99 Tickle-Me-Elmo dolls were being scalped for $7,000 apiece. In The Power of Scarcity, Dr. Mindy Weinstein leverages her deep expertise in both marketing and psychology to reveal how this influence principle can be used to boost sales, win negotiations, spark action, develop community, build customer loyalty, and more.

My reference for success in every way
It's such an amazing book. I experienced part of the journey David expressed in this book, and the man is a creative soul that has changed telecom as we know it. He revolutionized the industry, and sadly, no one will truly understand it until later. Personally, he is an awesome person, and I love his spirit. A true visionary that has a million gems of opportunities in the words He printed in this book, and it will take a "Total Rethink" to manifest a future of success if you are the person that sees it.

Great titles can be deceiving
The title and table of contents are good. The first two chapters are good. After that it slowly drifts onto a generic victory lap by what I’m sure is a very nice man with too much time on his hands. If you are looking to be disrupted look elsewhere
