About this listen

Scraps, a gutter child, is sitting in his hiding place in a back alley, waiting for the cold thunderstorm to pass. Suddenly, lightning strikes in front of him, and then a second time. The two lightning bolts become men — two wizards — one from the Red Order, the other from the Blue.

The Red Wizard, chanting his curses, throws lightning bolts and fireballs. The Blue Wizard, singing his spells, throws lightning bolts and ice shards. So intense is their fighting, they become lightning rods. It seemed as if God himself cast his lightning bolt, striking the ground between them and consuming both wizards in its white blaze. Scraps watched as the lightning bolt gouged its way across the alley, striking him.

Rain on his face awakens Scraps. The only thing left of the fighting wizards is a smoking crater and their scattered artifacts. He feels compelled to gather their possessions and hide them and himself. The dispersed items glowed red or blue, and he notices that he now has a magenta aura. Magenta, a combination of both red and blue, but more powerful than either.

Scraps then does what he has done all his life to survive. He hides. And unknowingly, he has become the catalyst for change in the Kingdom.

Some might say that the main character got too strong too fast but I really love this book and the storyline. And I really can’t wait for book 2 to come out

Absolutely fantastic

The MC is so overwhelmingly overpowered...but I like the OP MC genre but this was too much.

Uhhhhh...

Enjoyed the story. Refreshing to have an altruistic wizard for a change. The narrative was excellent. Discernable voices for each character. I found Hues voice particularly interesting as I had never heard an English accent with a southern U.S. twang element.

Hoping it won't be long for the next instalment

Great potential but I doubt there will be a sequel so that’s disappointing as shit

I really enjoyed the story and the narration. The story does leave you hanging, but is perfect for a sequel.

Great story. All you need now is a sequel.

I enjoyed it very much. The story form reminds me of short stories by Hans Christian Anderson. It goes on without much interest for an explanation of time. I was halfway through the story, when i realized that years had passed since the beginning of the story, rather than weeks. (Maybe it was just me though.) I dont know how to explain better about how it reminds me of short stories, but it has something to do with the flow. Overall, though, it works. It just had a different way of putting itself together. I was worried that I would get bored of how the MC always comes out on top. Even from the beginning you know he is going to win. But somehow i was still kept interested.

It feels like a children's story

I've been waiting for the second ever since this came out. I hope he hasn't given up on this series..

Wonderful reading from start to finish. Definitely not a classic wizardry story. I have rarely enjoyed a wizardry story that was this enjoyable and fun. I will Definitely look forward to reading more from this author.

Terrific Enjoyment
