About this listen

When the world's most powerful ascendant is magicked into the body of a boy with no memory of his true self, he must face off against an army of the undead.

It's only been a year since Nym awakened washed up on a beach with no memory of where he came from. But he looks five years older, and his abilities have grown at an extraordinary rate. Unbeknownst to him, Nym is really the mighty Exarch Niramyn, banished into a child's—now teenager's—body by his archrival of a thousand years.

In search of some easy money, Nym and his friends have found work as earth mages in the town of Ebalsan, building fortifications against the rising incursion of the undead. But Nym is badly injured by one of the wights, and suffers a matrix destabilization, rendering him unable to perform magic. To make matters worse, the mysterious Collective is on his tail.

Now, Nym must learn to embrace the full extent of his power if he hopes to have even the slightest chance of beating back his enemies—both dead and alive . . .

The second volume of the hit progression-fantasy series—with more than a million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

CHECK YOUR PRONUNCIATION - Great Otherwise

Holy moly one of my biggest pet peeves in audiobooks is when the narrator mispronounces words that are used repeatedly, Qi, colonel, gaess etc. In this book gaess is somehow pronounced not only incorrectly but also differently every single time it's used. In this book it's used A Lot. Extremely irritating and distracting from the story. Nym's voice is still annoying but you get used to the scratchy, prepubescent affectation.
Otherwise great book. More character and story development for our boy Nym. Really digs into the magic system, if that's your thing, I consider it as important to world building as anything else.

Great story with awesome voice acting

I love this series. The story develops smoothly and has great characters. It keeps me thoroughly engaged and never gets boring. The voice acting by Todd Haberkorn is always A+. His great talent really brings the characters and the whole story to life. Already loaded up book 3 so I can continue the adventure.

Pretty soft for a child of the corn. He needs to man up and get violent.

Sho'nuff . Kiss my Converse! Little kid MC's usually annoy the shit out of me, bc I don't really like kids.. but I am a sucker for these OP youth mage adult books. Keiran books too. Hope you continue to hone your craft and share your word art with us. I have no constructive feedback, jus further interest and future promise support, thanks fella.

Worth the listen

I am a fan of progression type stories. MCs going from weak to strong, or hard work paying off with overwhelming strength. One thing that loses me in those types of stories is when someone comes along and starts figuring out incredible stuff without it seeming really like a difficult thing and being perfect at what they do. The MC in this story at least has a logical reason why he can learn faster than the average and he does mess up or miss things regularly. Much more relatable. I do enjoy the diologue as well. Overall a strong continuation of the first with a hint at whats to come in the third.
