About this listen

A side quest adventure in the same world as the best-selling Awaken Online series. This story takes place after the end of Awaken Online: Precipice.

Riley's real-life took a nosedive after her confrontation with Alex. The girls at school torment her and she feels powerless to do anything about it. At the same time, Jason has mysteriously disappeared, sending only a terse cryptic message to Riley and Frank.

With some time on her hands and with her frustration with her real-life reaching a breaking point, Riley decides to strike off on her own in-game. Her goal is to investigate the quest related to the strange bow she discovered in the dungeon north of Peccavi. Yet events quickly spiral out of control as she discovers that the bow's former owner has set her along a path of vengeance - with an entire city hanging in the balance.

The same but different.

another excellent entry in the awaken online saga. when I saw that this iteration was a side story I was mostly bummed, but after getting about a quarter through it really started to feel refreshing. Riley goes through some unique experiences. Jason's story and its constant update of stats got a bit taxing in the other two. this book has much less of that while still providing all the nessary infromation. if you liked the other books this one is a guaranteed pick up.

Amazing

This was definitely a filler book but i was amazing all the same. I really built on Riley's Badass-ery and showed some new in-depth abilities.

Another Masterpiece

I absolutely love this series, so I was excited to learn another addition was being released. The suspense behind the Jason cliffhanger is still killing me, but I'm glad the our side protagonists are getting their characters fleshed out a bit more. Also, yet another fantastic performance by David Stifel. After this book, I'd probably say he's my favorite audiobook narrator of all time. If you haven't already, I highly recommend you start this series; I promise you won't regret it.

Side quest not main

Follows riley and there is nothing to catch you up to the story so you need to read the other books first. Is a good story and continues with the improvement of the emotional state and confidence of the players outside of the game.

Its a good story i did listen to it at 1.75 speed as David spoke very slowly throughout the book. Wasn't a bad narration just slow.

It’s pretty damn good you learn Jason’s last name in this book which is cool

This book blends role playing games mechanics and drama together well it’s a great half step in the story line can’t wait to finish the other books and see where this story goes

A great distraction!

A great distraction after one heck of a cliff hanger in the second book. I love to see Jason's friends and the world fleshed out. And I al.ost forgot about the lingering problem from book two.

Good story

Was a great story. Solving the mystery was fun and gave you a bit more character information on Riley

LitRPG…fading

It remains a good story. The narrator is fine, but doesn’t generate much difference in character for the different voices. More than that, though is something I routinely comment on with respect to this genre… After the first or second in a series the thing that brought people in, character development, takes a backseat to a story arc. Every genre has story arc. That’s great. But only one genre has litRPG elements. You can’t give those up and expect people who came for litRPG to all of a sudden be OK with it not being there anymore.
