Publisher's summary

With Cyb3Ru5 defeated, James is ready to get back to some good old-fashioned dungeon shenanigans. The experience left him shaken–but luckily, he now has friends to lean on.

Speaking of DCO, while James might feel like the main character at times, the game itself, and the developers behind it, think otherwise. During his stint as a pawn helping bring down the dangerous hacker group, a lot of upgrades to DCO were implemented without him. Now, James is diving headfirst into all of it!

New floors, new levels, and so much more, including a rematch against a certain winged lizard cult that Rue, ahem, the White Beast of Chaos, is chomping at the bit to take part in.

James is back where he is supposed to be—running his dungeon, hanging out with Rue, and sipping digitally rendered cocktails served by cybernetic penguins. He’s trying to forget his own unpleasant memories–and he's not the only one.

But DCO is full of distractions–and one new game mode, in particular, is set to keep James occupied for quite a while. In more ways than he could ever imagine....

Now, for the first time since its debut, James can finally run the dungeon himself.

Another great addition to the series

I absolutely love these books. Each one is engaging, but not so heavy that it burns you out.

Highly recommend!!!

A bridge to the end

This is where the ending starts everything's tied up there needs to be foreshadowing is done right and we get to see some pretty good fights it's not everything that the other books are because they were high impact and very important things were happening there this is just getting ready for the end but it is a great part of the story as it continues

One last blast before the Climax

First off, this was received for free in a contest from the publisher. A review was not required, but I’m doing it anyways.

Book four of Dungeon Core Online has from great moments, some funny, some powerful, some heart wrenching. For the most part, it’s a peasant change of low stakes fun after so much build up and dread. James gets to enjoy his dungeon building, time with his friends, and no real serious issues except within the confines of the game as he continues to grow closer to those around him. Before the final book, Five

Narrator was great as Travis is always excellent, story was fun, and that’s all that really matters. Love the new classes and monsters.

Great continuation

Everything I’ve come to expect from Mr. Smidt. Great storytelling and plenty of character development. This is definitely more then just a dungeon building series. I love the interaction outside the dungeon as much as inside.

Amazing Continuation

This was another fun addition and well worth pursuing. It sets up the final book well. Travis Baldree does another fantastic job!

5 stars

Well done. Well narrated. will be looking forward to the next from this author. The rest of this is just filler. This is more filler.

Continuation of a fun story

If you’ve made it this far you know what to expect. The pop culture gag reels, the dicken jokes and the out of game action.

Of all of the true “dungeon core” stories this is the most enjoyable and not the normal dungeon core style. There’s actual thought and the core isn’t purely about murdering everyone

The characters seemingly come alive for me!

The characters come alive for me and I could hardly wait for the download so I could rejoin James, Rue, Alex, Zee and all the other players in Dungeon Core Online. And this book, well it's even better than the last one. I know I prolly said that for DCO3 too 😆. But that's because Jonathan Smidt is a word magi... and yes in this book these same characters have made such strong bonds to each other that they can feel free to open up and share their feelings. All the while James is upgrading his Dungeon, floor 6 and thus making his life in DCO the best it can be.
Travis Baldree again delivers a perfectly nuanced performance for this fantastic book. So yeah go grab the audiobook and dive deep well at least to level 5. Because you'll be delighted to find plenty of fun, and pop-cultural references in these books. And level 6 well that's the treat saved for DCO6.

Here's a couple of quotes that I found amusing:

"It is not, for you to name this psy bear, once you have I shall protect you against all who bare you ill will..." the psy bear chuckled again. Great, James had a bear who had just told him a bear pun in the span of 5 seconds."

"What kinda sniper hits his own teammate." "The Halo kind."

"Sitting there was a leather bound book. A quick glance didn't give James the name of book but he did see authors name Brandon Sanderson."

Fun

It’s a different take for this one, more adventuring, less dungeon coring. Overall a good read confusing the story of our MC. Lots of ends to tie up in book 5. Can’t wait to see how it all plays out :)
