About this listen

The Expeditionary Force saga continues with Fallout, the eagerly awaited sequel to number one Audible-ranked and New York Times best-selling Breakaway, from an epic sci-fi writer at the top of his game. Join the millions of listeners who have enjoyed R.C. Bray’s hilarious portrayal of Joe, Skippy, the Merry Band of Pirates, and so many other unforgettable characters.

The problem with lying about having a super weapon is that the bad guys might believe they have nothing to lose by doing something stupid that both sides will regret. Or, they might just call your bluff. Either way, the Merry Band of Pirates need a plan to deal with the Fallout.

I would have thought that this story line might become old or tiresome, no at all! The story remains fun and interesting and the narration is superb. Well done and thanks for a great ride!

My biggest issue with this series is the overall pacing of the main plot and the numerous detours away from that main plot. This is an issue that is not isolated to only this book in the series, but despite the minor gripes I have I can still say this is the story I look forward to continuing the most. I still think this book was a bit weak compared to say, book 9 or 10, but it's most likely just the calm before the storm in the overall story.
RC does an amazing job as always, as if that was ever in doubt

It's good, Be patient

I love the Expeditionary Force series! I haven't heard any of Craig Alanson's stories that I haven't enjoyed but EF is the best yet for me. The stories are interesting, the characters feel realistic, the various jokes both obvious and esoteric and my God R.C. Bray! I'd listen to him read the U.S. tax code; especially if there will be outtakes 😁

I'm so glad you quit you job to write Craig! Thank you thank you thank you! Please don't stop

I can't get enough!

I feel like a fish that has been thoroughly hooked, reeled in, released, re-hooked, and repeat... I'll be honest a little part of me wants to wait until the next two or three books come out so I don't have to wait in-between books...

Between the new character introductions, and the hefty change of pace from previous books, this one was a phenomenal combination of story (including the mavericks, different aliens perspectives, Skippy & the Merry Band of Pirates, and more *spoilers redacted* elder "stuff"!).

My only regret is that I finished the book... and now have to wait the seemingly vast amount of time for the next in the series.

Also, shout-out to R.C. Bray for the (as usual) incredibly well done production! if they do make a show(rated M, preferably animated), please, PLEASE voice Skippy. You're the only one.

Restarting the book now for an instant replay...

Craig Alanson, why do you do this to us?

then you're in it for the long haul. Was a few places that seemed like filler, while other places was skimmed, later explain by Joe for him to go off on a tangent.
Any who, RC Bray again was wonderful as always. lots of funny laugh out loud moments.

Still not a fan of his new , end the book on a cliff hanger/ mid sentence routine per the last few books.

if you've come this far...

I just finished this book and I'm already jumping up and down for the next one. Mr.Alanson, you've blown us out if the water again as you have with each book in the ExForce series. Thank you sir!

Feed my addiction please!

I thoroughly enjoyed this entry into the series. There have been times throughout Expeditionary Force I felt it overused the “crisis>Skippy/Joe banter>monkey brained idea” loop. This time that loop process felt natural instead of forced. I appreciate that Craig tied up previous crises or provided greater context to fit the grander picture. Nothing in this installment felt like a “filler” episode.

It wasn’t perfect, but it sure as hell had me on the edge of the seat at times. Craig you’re a wonderful author and it is obvious how much you have learned over the past few years from the Ascension series. I look forward to and also dread the end of this series in two books. Schmaybe consider making more?

Mr. Bray’s performance was incredible as always. He doesn’t have the voice of an angel but that’s why I love listening to his vocal range. Cheers.

Honestly, it was magnificent.

It’s really good, my only complaint is there’s a lot going on that didn’t seem to matter in the end.
Don’t get me wrong, I would absolutely buy this again and I will absolutely listen to it again, as well as recommend it to people. There’s just something I can’t quite put my finger on, but I think it’s because of the irrelevant content.
Still and outstanding book and my man RC Bray is a treasure.
Hats off to Craig Alanson for being able to continually come up with content that tracks with all the other stories AND remains interesting. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to write a story like this while maintaining continuity throughout the entire series.

So close to 5 stars for me.

Exceptional, unbelievable this is not something you expect from the 13th book in a series. I read a lot Book series usually threes are about the max you can get but for this the 13th book in the series to be so exceptional truly surprised me. I would’ve bought it anyway but it’s of the highest quality. So in other words I enjoyed it.

Exceptional

The only thing bad about this book was the lack of explanation at the end. Glad the bloopers are getting longer!

Wonderful as always
