About this listen

After one of the deadliest family reunions imaginable, Argrave finds himself becoming ever more entwined in the civil war engulfing the kingdom. With a steeled heart, he must plunge headfirst into this cloudy whirlpool of grudges and allegiances. His father the king remains undefeated in battle, though the rebels have come further than any before them. However the dice land, he doesn't intend to join this fight without allies.

Foremost among these allies is a woman who is blind and lame, yet has more vision than one thousand men. Argrave must earn the trust and support of Elenore. Untrusting, pragmatic, callous, and selfish, it promises to be a difficult task to convince her to aid the dark horse that is Argrave.

Ever-watching eyes scrutinize Argrave’s progress… both his father, and a more distant ancestor.

I really enjoy this series and this book did not disappoint, really looking forward to the next one.

A fun and interesting story.

I enjoy a series that is action packed, however that can lead to a lot happening in one book but not much happening to push the over all story forward. That has not been a problem here in my opinion! The books are packed with great story and it is appropriately paced!

Great book and over all story pacing!

This book in the series moves the story forward at a brisk pace with Argrave and his coterie of companions moving into territory that moves away from what had occurred in the game on Earth, leaving Argrave to maneuver into dangerous unknown situations. However, the primary thrust of this book is for Argrave to form a relationship with his severely handicapped sister, Elenore. Forgive me, but I couldn't help thinking the lyrics from the Turtles song of the same name,

"Your looks intoxicate me
Even though your folks hate me
There's no one like you, Elenore, really

Elenore, gee, I think you're swell
And you really do me well
You're my pride and joy, et cetera"

Okay, you got me, the above was filler. Still, the book was worth it.

Excellent series continuation

The story and the narrator’s performance improves with every book. I hope we don’t have to wait too long
Until the next one.

If you liked the prior books then you’ll probably like this. Continued character development. Continued significant plot progress. Better than average for the genre.

Another solid book in the series

This book was great to me because we see a lot of large changes. we are also starting to see the snowball effect of all the effort put into the main objective. All of the powerful characters we have met so far are now aware of the main objective.

excited for the next book!
