From the powerhouse author of  The Memo, the essential self-help book for women of color to heal - and thrive - in the workplace

In workplaces nationwide, women of color need frank talk and honest advice on how to deal with microaggressions, heal from racialized trauma, and find relief from invisible workplace burdens. Filled with Minda Harts’ signature wit and warmth, Right Within offers strategies for women of color to speak up during racialized moments with managers and clients, work through past triggers they may not even know still cause pain, and reframe past career disappointments as opportunities to grow into a new path. Through action points, exercises, and clear-eyed coaching, Harts encourages women to summon hidden reserves of strength and courage. She includes advice from therapists and faith leaders of color on a full range of ways to heal. This book offered so much insight on baggage I carried from a previous job to a new job I took. I am now able to work on my healing and create awareness to other women and women of color who my have these feelings and don’t know how to unpack them. Thank you Minda for this book to add to out tool kit of healing.

Forgove any amateurness of this ESSENTIAL READING

Despite thinking this book was amateurish, rambled at times, and assumed each reader gets each point and each microaggression - failing to point out the non-black readers' very blindspots being unlocked here, the book is nonetheless ESSENTIAL READING as the few (had to read quite a bit but they came) insights and advice make the book worth the read and vitally supplement our awareness gaps and survival arsenal. I repeat: a must read. I would do a revised edition aimed at spelling out and explaining issues, experienced and points to diverse readers, some of whom may just not get the depth od the issue.

Real, Raw, Actionable

Minda’s storytelling is powerful. It’s a deep look into the pain micro aggressions and other forms of racism cause people of color in the workplace. It’s a call to action for company’s to acknowledge this pain and it’s impact on staff. It’s also a great tool for those who experience racism in the workplace on healing. I am changed after experiencing this piece!

Unfairness

I loved her book with professional relationships. Small businesses also go through these issues and hide behind nepotism and mesaugany. I applied her theory for the small business where I work.
