Publisher's summary

The boy next door is about to rock my world...again.

And when I say "rock" I mean he's going to turn me topsy-turvy, leaving my head spinning and other parts of my anatomy aching for his touch. But there's no room in my new life for an old flame. Especially not when the sparks still smolder.

The only way to claim my big city future is by cutting ties with my small town past, and I find myself caught between a rock of regret and the hard planes of Robbie Jordan's chest.

I only need to survive until he fixes up my grandparents' house and I can cash out. But he's got a truck full of tools and knows exactly how to use them. Not to mention the things that man can do with a hammer....

Contains mature themes.

Love!

This is one of my favorites! I didn’t want to put the book down. Great live story and it was unpredictability steamy.

It was good.

This was a light read/listen. Robbie is the ideal book boyfriend 😍🥰💕 but tbh Cas didn’t deserve him. She’s very immature and doesn’t know what she wants but wants everything if that makes sense. Also why is she trying to Asian infuse everything lol. She could literally have her dream of owning/running her own kitchen and the love of her life but instead wants to leave and go back to a life she clearly isn’t happy with. I wanted to root for her but she was making it hard. But it was a good listen, enjoyed getting to know the characters and laughing. I would still recommend.

Sweet Tea & Second Chances: A Boy Next Door Small Town Rom Com (Lovebird Café Book 1) by Dylann Crush, narration by Carly Robins and Aiden Snow
I purchased the audio and ebook combo from Amazon.
First up let me start with the narration….LOVED them BOTH!! They both did a great job bringing the characters to life and hitting the comedy at the right time. Audio can ruin any good book, but I think this combo did a great job bringing the story even more alive for me a listener.
Look I am a sucker for a good 2nd chance story and this one did not disappoint. Now there were times when I was like “Girl Imma smack you” or even “BOOOOOYYYYYY” but that is a given in any good book right???
This is the story of young love that was destroyed through miscommunication…yeah let’s call it that. The two are so in love and at the same time do not communicate so it caused issues for them as teens and again at times as adults.
Cassie needs money, and even though I felt she was a bit naïve with why she needed the money, she was going to sell her childhood home. Her grandparent’s home. The one with all her good memories. The house needs a lot of updating and so she is stuck seeing HIM….Robbie. The one who broke her heart in to a million pieces.
Robbie never understood why things went they way they did. His life is at a crossroads. He either marries his current girlfriend, who he is talking time away from to sort through things (no cheatin’ here people) or he walks away and starts over again someplace else once his things at home are sorted.
Having Cassie return makes Robbie and Cassie start to remember the love they have but seems others just can’t have it. We start to see some drama from ex’s and parents and everything else get in the way for the couple.
I did enjoy the story and love when people can find their way back to their better half or the perfect fit to their soul. Cassie and Robbie definitely are that for the others.

Ends with HEA

This feels a little drug out at times and the main female character got on my nerves a bit. She tries choosing superficial crap over following her heart on too many occasions and it made her come off as shallow and dull. When she was following her heart the story was sweet and feel-good. They do get their HEA eventually, but I was seriously disliking her for a while. This book is pretty good, just drug out a bit with what felt like some filler. The kitten is adorable, but it fills up more of the story than needed. There are spicy scenes, always consensual and loving. For me this was a light, feel-good read, nothing too heartbreaking and no book hangover. I do have so many questions about the mother and grandmother, maybe there are answers in the other books in this series.

meh...

First the bad:
The plot is so tired. Boy and girl meet and grow up together. After hot steamy romance, Girl leaves town, boy nearly follows. mysterious letters are exchanged causing girl and boy to break up. She comes back to town, Leaving her boyfriend behind to work on a business deal. she needs to sell a house to come up with her (the bulk) portion, of the seed money. Boyfriend seems to only pay attention to her when discussing the business 🙄. She breaks up with him. She and the childhood boyfriend start hooking up again, but the business partner/ex shows up. She tells him about 3 times that it is over between them but he has "news" that he refuses to tell her unless they go out to dinner. This is after he wants her to cook for him. I guess he changed his mind though, so he's holding the big news until she has dinner with him. She has no backbone when it comes to this guy. I mean, dude wouldn't have even been coming into my house much less manipulating me to have dinner with him. I tried to finish it, but it just isn't going to happen. The first book was good. This one, not so much.

Now for the good!
I absolutely 💯 LOVE Aiden Snow's voice. I could listen to him read all day. That I am willing to DNF this book is a testament to how bad the story is.
