simple and informative guide to explore your world

As someone who tries to quickly get from one destination to the next, I found this book to be helpful in encouraging me to try walking around my neighborhood and really taking in everything. When I left work the other day I decided to take a walk around the city before going home and it helped a lot. I'm looking forward to exploring further thanks to this book.

I wanted to like this.

I’ve been a local explorer for many years, so I thought the concept of flaneuring would be resonant. Not so, it’s just a bourgeois word for wandering. This is a pretentious book’s masquerading as self help. Save yourself a few hours and go for a walk instead of listening to this book

How to take a walk

I couldn't finish this, so it's possible it gets really engaging after the first hour, but the first few chapters read like a high school essay on how to take a walk, including a section with quotes from the author's family on why they like to take walks. In general, this lacks the philosophical substance I was expecting and reads more like a narrative on why people should walk and pay attention to their surroundings. Narration was fine, substance is lacking.
