About this listen

In the 1980s T. Colin Campbell, PhD, codirected a study of more than four dozen diseases and 367 items of socioeconomic, lifestyle, nutrition, and genetic information across a population of 6,500 adults in rural China, generating more that 8,000 statistically significant associations. Those groundbreaking results, along with many other research projects described in the best-selling book The China Study, support the theory that a whole-food, plant-based diet is linked to lower rates of chronic disease.

More than a million people across the world have read The China Study and have been convinced by empirical evidence to adopt a whole-food, plant-based diet. The Campbell Plan goes beyond the why and shows listeners how to make the transition - and enjoy the journey - with practical guidance and a simple plan to make a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle easy and sustainable.

The Campbell Plan is full of the cutting-edge nutritional research that fans of The China Study have come to expect. Dr. Thomas Campbell speaks to the listener about health, weight loss, and the science behind it. He also addresses the biggest difficulties of transitioning to a plant-based diet; the most frequently asked questions he receives from patients, practitioners, and readers; and the most cutting-edge research in nutrition. The Campbell Plan's combination of practical tools and the research-based evidence of The China Study will change people's lives for generations to come.

I really enjoyed this book and will probably listen to it over and over again. The only thing negative I would say is the voice of the narrator Was for me, very Irritating so I had to listen to it in small doses. Other than that the book was very good

Very Informative and easy to listen to.

I love this book and was really looking forward to getting some of the recipes mentioned in the book. However, when I went to the book in my library no PDF is available for the recipes. :( I listen to book when I am driving so it's not likely I'll find the time to be able to re-listen and write the recipes down.

Love this book! Dissapointed no PDF for recipes.

The narrator mispronounces some words that makes it hard to take him seriously and makes my eye twitch. “Asterick” instead of asterisk, “toomerick” instead of turmeric…who allowed this? Also the ending chapters of recipes being read aloud is great for falling asleep to, it is very dry listening. All of that probably could have been left in a pdf instead of read aloud. The rest of the book is great, it’s very informative and interesting.

Awesome info, annoying narration

I am a huge fan of Dr. Campbell and I highly encourage others to check out this way of eating. I have read extensively on this subject, but this book gives new insights.
If you have health issues, read this and follow the advice before it is too late

What did you love best about The Campbell Plan?

What I loved is that The Campbell Plan made applying what was learned in The China Study more accessible for actual application.

What could Thomas Campbell have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

It totally irks me when an audible book that has charts, graphs, recipes and other forms of visual information the consumer/reader may need to make the book actually useful, cherry picks what is included in the PDF. In this case, recipes are not included. All that was included were the pie charts and graphs which the written part of the book covered in enough detail that I could easily do without. However, try transcribing several recipes, menus, shopping lists, etc....

What does Mark Cabus bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mark Cabus does a good job of relating what might be dry material in a voice that is easy to listen to. Basically, his reading the book to me gives me the ability to listen while I am doing my housework. I would not get to "read" as much if I did not have audio books.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

The most interesting tidbit was not really new news, since I have read The China Study twice, and some chapters more than that. What I find interesting is that milk is so harmful to my immune system.

Any additional comments?

I wish the author did not continuously recommend the reader to The China Study. A couple of times would have been fine, but I lost track of how many times he actually said it. Additionally, what is the point of making a book an Audible book, and expensive, if the reader is not allowed access to all of the information because the important stuff was not included in the PDF provided? Isn't that, well, stealing my money? It's a good plan, and I believe in the what the author suggests, but I do not appreciate not being given ALL of the information.

Grateful for the PDF, but recipes were not include

Great details. Great narrator but recipes are “read” to us. Not especially helpful. Need in PDF, please.

What did you love best about The Campbell Plan?

This backed up the book he and his father wrote very well and gives you a bit more of the toolsl that you need to be successful with this life change.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The proof is in the research.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

This book can really change your life if you stick to it.

Any additional comments?

This was a great book but I need the recipes in PDF format. I hope I do not have to go and purchase the book just to get those. I also see that the same complaint is in almost everyone of these reviews but I wonder if anyone is reading them other than the consumers.
