Publisher's summary

Why, despite the many advances in science and technology over the past few decades, does our health only seem to be getting worse? Why, despite so much time and energy spent studying the foods we eat, are we more confused than ever about nutrition - what good nutrition looks like, and what it can do for our health?

Colin Campbell’s first book, The China Study - with 3 million copies sold (and growing!) - laid out the exhaustive evidence for the whole foods, plant-based diet as the healthiest way to eat. His New York Times best-selling follow-up, Whole, addressed the widespread scientific emphasis on reductionism that has kept our focus on the discrete behaviors of individual vitamins and nutrients in the foods we eat, rather than diet’s synergistic effects on health.

Now, in The Future of Nutrition: An Insider’s Look at the Science, Why We Keep Getting It Wrong, and How to Start Getting It Right, Campbell takes on the institution of nutrition itself: the history of how we got locked in to focusing on “disease care” over health care; the widespread impact of our reverence of animal protein on our interpretation of scientific evidence; the way even well-meaning organizations can limit what science is and is not taken seriously; and what we can do to ensure the future of nutrition is different than its past.

The Future of Nutrition offers a fascinating deep-dive behind the curtain of the field of nutrition - with implications both for our health and for the practice of science itself.

Give it a try

This book was a little technical for me. If you push yourself thur the book, there are many pearls of nutritional knowledge. It was helpful for me to push myself thur with the book and audio. It validated my perspective on scientific research. The nutritional information can be applied to having a long health life. I would recommend this book.

T. Colin Campbell is brilliant and brave. He speaks the truth of nutrition science while others coward. I believe someday the world will wake up to recognize the message.

Learning about Nutrition

As was the author, I am from a farm. I grew up on a dairy farm. We also had a large vegetable garden and fruit trees. I’m grown up knowing that nutrition was important. Now I am yearning to know more. This is the third book of T. Collin Campbells that I have read. I have a classmate that went vegan several years ago. He made some reading recommendations to me. This is a very good book to read. I found myself re-listening to parts of the book as they interested me. A good read for gaining knowledge about whole food plant based diets.

Genuine brave Truth

What a joy to listen to this amazing book. So much wisdom and insight. No agenda apart from wellness. I was fascinated with the account of our fractured food system and disgusted by how much resistance and obstruction the author had to endure in his pursuit of truth and health. Just goes to show how absolutely corrupt are the forces that are against human and planetary health and wellness. I love how the author encourages the individual to use the power we have - free choice of the food we eat each day against these corrupt forces and personally I have taken up the challenge to use my power. I am my own health advocate, learning from great truth tellers like Colin T Campbell, by following a whole Food plant based diet, and now inspired to create, test and share WFPB recipes on my blog which I’ve lovingly called: joyandsuch.com and where I also share my personal story of how through a Whole Foods plant-based diet. I have been able to heal my body from over 20 years of chronic constipation. Knowing the truth will set you free and this book can help you find freedom like it has for me.

A very important book

If only this could be required reading in high school and college. The only criticism of the reading is the mispronunciation of Dr. Esselstyn’s name as Esselsteen rather than the correct Esselstin. Very clearly read though. I’m immediately starting it again from the beginning.

Timely AND Essential!

Mr Campbell has done it again!
This is the fourth book I’ve read by him and I cannot speak highly enough. If you are seeking truth, honesty and clarity about food, diet, and nutrition, look no further. This is the priceless pearl. In addition to that, his perspective on “Wholeness”, as it were, is refreshing, pertinent and timely.

Thank you Mr. Campbell for this book and all your work over the years. It has quite literally changed my life and that of my family🙏🏽
