The diet: Four easy steps to permanent weight loss.

  • Phase one: Attack. Using Dr. Dukan's true weight calculator, dieters determine a reasonable and healthy weight loss goal. Then they begin the Dukan Attack phase, a two-to-seven-day period during which only unlimited lean protein and a daily Oat bran galette (or pancake) are consumed and dramatic weight loss is achieved.
  • Phase two: Cruise. Dieters alternate days of unlimited lean protein with days of protein combined with healthful vegetables until they reach their true weight.
  • Phase three: Consolidation. Dieters stay on this phase for five days for every pound lost. At this point the diet allows unlimited protein and vegetables, and other foods (such as cheese and bread) are reintroduced. Dieters are also allowed two weekly celebration meals to stave off boredom.
  • Phase four: Stabilization. This is the maintenance portion of the plan, in which followers are allowed to eat whatever they like without regaining weight - provided that they follow three unbreakable rules including eating only unlimited lean protein one set day per week.

Great info and great results for me so far!

Why listen, when you have the book?

I had read the book twice and decided to buy the audio so I could listen while getting ready for work etc. Wow what a difference it made in what I retended from the information.

LIFETIME OF SUCCESS AWAITS

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

HIGHLY!!! Myself and a couple of people at work read the book and lost a lot of weight. This is my lifetime solution to weight management. Great book. When I follow the plan strictly I loose about 2-3 pounds a day (and I EAT...just the right foods). LOVE IT and will always keep this book in my electronic library and even have a hard copy on my shelf. I also copied the pages with the "100 foods" I can choose from and keep that in my purse with me when I'm shopping! I have lost over 40 pounds in a fairly short period of time. When I go off (and have cheat days/weeks) I get right back on and drop the weight again. It's easy now that I know how.

Great book

Yes, I would and have suggested this audio book to others.
The only down-side of it being in audio format is that the recipes were a very tedious chapter and odd to listen to, so I skipped that one part....

It works!

What did you love best about The Dukan Diet?

A lifetime of dieting brings me to some of the same conclusions as Dr Dukan.
His plan worked for both my husband and myself. We both lost over 35 lbs and have been able to keep it off.
The book is an invaluable tool and i suggest that people who might go on this plan keep it close at hand for inspiration and reference.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Dukan Diet?

After the first couple of weeks the scales told the story. Dr Dukan's Plan really does work!

The reader is a joy to listen to, the information is unscientific at best.

While an all protein or ‘carnivore’ diet is better than a carbohydrate rich diet, some of the ‘science’ given in this book is dubious and without citation, so you can’t even look up what he may have misunderstood. The talks about how great a ketogenic state is while demonizing fats. He states correctly that not all calories are created equal, but then follows up with ‘fats are bad as they are more calorie dense than proteins.
While I have no doubt you could lose weight with this program, the information provided is inaccurate and misleading.
If you are a fan of science based advice complete with citations, I would recommend Dr. Jason Fungs ‘The Obesity Code’.
