About this listen

People called them different things when they first appeared. Walkers, Cryptids, Infected, the Ridden. The most popular was also the least apt, Zombies.

Chris stumbled out of his cheap motel room after the worst night of his life and straight into the apocalypse. It didn’t take him long to learn what happened, even if it was somewhat unbelievable. Doubts that are quickly dispelled with reality.

Heading to his parent’s farm, Chris is determined to make sure they are safe. Joining up with an old girlfriend, the two set forth to gather supplies and turn the farm into a sanctuary of their own. Unfortunately, they’re not the only ones with that idea.

This is not your normal zombie apocalypse story. As Chris is about to find out, it’s not just the monsters he needs to worry about.

It’s the humans he’ll have to fight to survive.

If you liked The Last of Us and World War Z, you will be sure to enjoy The Ridden.

great story with unique hook

Great narrator. The only irritation is the two times the book used the word lithe and he pronounced it leeth.
I like the uniqueness of the zombie explanation used and it is an interesting catch to progression that makes this fall into the litrpg genre. well done.

Old Story, Refreshing Twist

Upgrade your body by killing Zombies...Yes please. The narrator did a great job.

only complaint is the relationship between the mc and his female companion feels forced.

Book 2?

Definitely a different take on zombies. This was a great first book looking forward to a second installment.

Not at all what I was expecting.

Not at all bad though. Being honest I thought this was a completely different genre before reading this book and was alittle disappointed on that note alone simply due to failed expectations. Eating chocolate ice cream when you're expecting strawberry doesn't make the ice cream gross, but you're still likely to react that way at least momentarily.

I'd say this is survival horror with a nice twist on the usual zombie trope. The voice actor was passionate and duly emotional. Sometimes he could be jarring louder than baseline but it was extremely well done.

The storyline itself only had a hiccup here and there such as cutting descriptions of events short in strange places. It did a remarkable job capturing numbness, trauma and other difficulties you'd expect from real ppl in survival situations. There were moments I questioned if the response the characters have REALLY fit the scene but those were kept to a minimum.

Great story and narration!

Discovering that did not quite a zombie apocalypse had started and the world that he new was over our MC must find a way to survive and thrive!

Sean does it fantastic job with the narration!

Well done, Joshua!

I finished this book in the same day I started it. Exciting from start to finish. I do love a progression fantasy and this GameLit does not disappoint. A good review of the human condition as well. You won’t be disappointed. And watch out for that next sand storm, you never know what might be in it.

SHTF with a twist on insects

Not bad. A little amateur writing. The narrator was a bit too over zealous reading to much into every action. Way more than necessary. Storyline involves insect taking over bodies yet a twist for normal humans to use the “insect spores” to better their bodies.

New take on a "zombie" apocalypse

Don't know if this will be a one shot or if we can hope for more. Everyone has thought what would you do if there were a zombie breakout.

This brings that thought to life or at least put it to paper the story was fast and interesting I'd like to see more with all the characters back

don't want to give any of the story away but definitely worth the read during this spooky time of year

the narrator did a decent job, expressional and good only heard a couple of errors but nothing big.
story was okay not overly great but different enough to keep me interested. the plot armor just felt really thick through most of the start...
