About this listen

Think Away Your Pain presents a revolutionary approach to relieve suffering and eliminate chronic pain. In this user-friendly clearly written book, you will learn how chronic pain becomes a condition of the brain as much as the body. Think Away Your Pain shows you how to use the immense power of your thoughts and beliefs to literally change the neural circuitry of your brain. Dr. Schechter combines scientific evidence with clinical experience and psychological insight to teach a systematic method to control and eliminate pain with the mind. With 25 years in the field, Dr. Schechter has cured thousands of patients with this mind/brain based program. This book teaches the TMS healing method where changing thought, expressing feelings, and understanding can and do change the neural circuitry of the brain and eliminate the pain. Dr. Schechter discusses research supporting this approach including research by the author. Some will find this a more contemporary version of John Sarno's books on this subject. Others will find this a fascinating interface between medicine, psychology, and neuroscience. For the chronic pain sufferer limited in function, distressed by suffering and hopeless about the future, this book offers realistic hope.

End your back pain!

The concepts and methods in this book represent new hope for those who suffer from a variety of malaise without definitive physical cause. The more we learn about mind/body medicine, the less likely we will be to spend time and money on treatments that quite simply don't work. The performance in the audio book is a bit uneven, but it doesn't significanly detract from the content.

It’s very well written, but the recording is so amateurish.

There so many mistakes in this recording and you can even hear voices in the background. He’ll start a sentence and then stop mid sentence, and then realize he messed up a and just continue the sentence. Dr. Schecter… whoever you paid to record you… get your money back. Also, if you write another book, please just get a professional voice actor to read it for you. Good book so far though

Very well done!

I have been saddled with this pain syndrome for over 40 years. I hope this book and the exercises help me become pain free once and for all!

Book Life Changing

I was on crutches and in constant pain for 10 years due to a botched foot surgery for a torn tendon. The result is that I fell a lot and ended up tearing the ligament in my other foot---operation #2 . It was successfully repaired but the pain and constant
falling continued. I then fell several times more and severely tore both meniscus.. Within 3 days of reading
and listening to this book (I bought the audible and Amazon) I've put my crutches in the garage, the knee braces in the closet and pain meds remain in the medicine cabinet. Too good to be true? I've said that to myself many times but I'm living proof of the success of Dr. Schechter's method. This book should be required reading in all medical schools.

Great but missing something.

I really loved this book because it offers possible solutions to my chronic pain disorder.
I think that it world have been great if it included additional material (PDF), like the tender points location, other diagrams ans the TMS oriented doctors in the area, etc.
The narrator (the author), was very clear, concise and no complain about that, it was like he was talking directly to me.

Another Valuable Audible on Healing Chronic Pain

I read some of the reviews for this book including one which was critical and gave it little value. I think a review like that is a disservice to many of us suffering for years with unexplained chronic pain. I recently discovered the mind/body connection and have already read (or rather listened to) several books on the subject, including Dr. John Sarno. I find this book to be a different approach to the same ideas. I haven’t finished this book yet nor have I “cured” my chronic neck and head pain. But I believe the more I learn different “takes” about this approach, the better my chances of overcoming this nightmare. I am definitely enjoying this book and even though the author isn’t as “slick” at reading his own words I am learning a lot about me! And that’s critical!

Ready To Do The Work!

Very insightful. I purchased the workbook while listening to the audio book and I am ready to dive into the process. I have been living with chronic pain for 29 years. I've tried EVERYTHING except surgery. It is time to once and for all live pain free. I am ready, I am excited, and I am motivated by Sarno's and Schechter's books. Looking forward to being in control of my health.

Dear Author: Please hire narrator next time.

I get it. You wrote the book and now you feel you are the best person to narrate it. There's a huge difference between reading a book out loud and "performing" it. This book was painstakingly read and it shows. I am glad this was not my first intro to this topic, so I stuck with it. Otherwise I would have lost interest after chapter 1.
