About this listen

In They Can't Find Anything Wrong!, Dr. David Clarke shares a life-changing approach to Stress Illness that is based on detailed interviews with and successful treatment of over 7000 patients. Tens of millions of people with Stress Illness are usually unaware of the nature or degree of the stress responsible for their symptoms. Unfortunately, few physicians are formally trained to detect and manage this problem.

Consequently, Stress Illness patients often find themselves in a medical blind spot and subjected to unnecessary tests and unsuitable treatments.

They Can't Find Anything Wrong! meets the needs of these patients, their physicians, and the health care system as a whole. Written in a warm, non-technical, story-telling style, this comprehensive guide is the first to provide listeners with a focus on the five distinct types of stress that can cause illness directly:

  • Persistent effects from childhood stress (over 50 percent of cases)
  • Current stress
  • Post-traumatic stress
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

Dr. Clarke goes beyond the typical lifestyle/stress management guides with his perceptions about finding and removing hidden impediments to lasting and meaningful change. Throughout the audiobook, Dr. Clarke uses numerous case histories of patients he has treated. The stories in They Can't Find Anything Wrong! are carefully selected to help listeners uncover their own hidden stresses. This is the essential first step toward understanding and alleviating stress illness symptoms.

They Can't Find Anything Wrong! is a book that can transform lives by offering hope and guidance so that millions can live the lives they were always meant to have.

I love how Dr. Clarke wrote his book filled with examples of his patients struggles and how they overcame their stress illness in many cases and strategies to implement in one's life if they suspect stress illness for themselves. I also haf more clarity about my own illness with ideas for next steps. i higjly recommend this book for anyone who had sought medical help and encounters road blocks to healing or improving. I'd also day Dr. Clarke gave me confidence to keep on going and I'm giving myself my own courageous/hero award as Dt. Clarke gave many if not all his patients. In gratitude and appreciation. This book does an excellent job of helping readers appreciate the seriousness of stress illness but doesn’t really help teach readers how to identify their stress types. The narrator is annoying and should know that the G is silent in words ending in -ing. Words like “raining” sound like “rainink”. I think this is a good book and worth the read, but I found it annoying and not as prescriptive as I hoped it would be.

Insightful but not helpful

I found Dr. Clarke’s work through the Curable podcast & app, which teaches you how to heal from mind-body pain and ailments. Loved hearing his case histories and the “miraculous” stories of recovery— definitely recommend this book if you suspect a link between your own illness/ailments and stress. Pleasant narration as well— this was a quick listen!

Should be required reading for medical school!

Great information, helpful stories and techniques for healing. Only thing I didn’t like was the narrator “acting”. For women voices (yes the author puts in the dialogue that happened between he and his patients), the male narrator used a feminine voice that was distracting to me. Robin Williams in “Mrs. Doubtfire” is one thing... this was something else entirely. Maybe if I’d thought of that movie from the beginning, I could have pretended it was him! Lol!

Great info, narration meh

Dislike the voice change in the story it makes the story less serious and i think this is a book that every doctor should have as they tell you it’s on your mind

The stories

I DNF'd this even though there is a ton of great information because it sounded like a computer read it & was so hard to pay attention to, but plan to pick it up in print.

voice sounds like robot

Is there anything you would change about this book?

More balance with stories about people who required long term effort to find wellness.

Would you recommend They Can't Find Anything Wrong to your friends? Why or why not?

No, it's rather vanilla and doesn't really offer much substance.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Paul Aulridge?

Probably not. Depends on the book, though. I prefer a narrator who talks with me and doesn't read at me.

Any additional comments?

If you are new to the concepts of illness from emotional or mental causes, this might be a good place to start. Otherwise, it is a very simplistic view, almost naive, at changing thoughts and beliefs creating better health. There isn't much substance to how to remedy illness and a lot of stories about patients who had an epiphany of insight and their problems just disappeared. Not saying that doesn't happen, but it would have been more balance to include o e of the stories about people who really hard to put work into changing over a long term.

Meh
