About this listen
Bring order to your home and focus to your busy life with Tidy Dad’s guiding principles and practical routines for organizing, cleaning, and prioritizing—both emotionally and physically.
A father of three with a stressful job, Tyler Moore felt his life resembled an overstuffed closet: disorganized and overly busy behind tidy, closed doors. When it all became too much—for his family's 750-square-foot apartment and his mental health—he set out to unpack the physical and emotional mess around him.
Chronicling his progress as “Tidy Dad” on Instagram, Moore learned that tidying is about so much more than the aesthetics and decluttering of a physical space. When he stepped back, reflected, and named what was "just enough," he was able to devise systems and hacks that brought order to his whole life. Drawing on Moore's experience with the everyday highs and lows of parenting, home management, and work-life balance, and filled with his signature warmth and wit, Tidy Up Your Life includes:
- Tidy Dad’s process for tackling overwhelming tasks—how to identify what really matters both emotionally and physically to you and the people who share your space.
- How to arrive at your own definition of "just enough" as well as thought experiments for appreciating what you already have.
- The goal is not "always tidy" but "easily tidied" and other principles for lifting some of the mental and physical burdens we feel when managing our homes.
- Tips for making a “one-area-a-weekday” cleaning schedule and other simple routines that compliment household rhythms and reduce the mental load you may be carrying.
A vital book for overwhelmed parents as well as overworked, stressed-out professionals, Tidy Up Your Life will help you live a more joyful, tidied-up life.

Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you’ll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever. The KonMari Method, with its revolutionary category-by-category system, leads to lasting results. In fact, none of Kondo’s clients have lapsed (and she still has a three-month waiting list).

In Sweden there is a kind of decluttering called döstädning, dö meaning "death" and städning meaning "cleaning." This surprising and invigorating process of clearing out unnecessary belongings can be undertaken at any age or life stage but should be done sooner rather than later, before others have to do it for you. In The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, artist Margareta Magnusson, with Scandinavian humor and wisdom, instructs listeners to embrace minimalism.

The MANipulator manual. Keep your man interested and begging for more without playing games. So many women get in trouble in their love lives, and 99.9 percent of that trouble could have been avoided if they'd said "Well, f**k him!" a bit more often. Too many women are way too nice and compliant to their men, especially when these men don't deserve that kind of treatment. I, as a dating coach and author of books for women who want to get men, cannot take it anymore.

A shocking majority of teens are disengaged from school, simultaneously bored and overwhelmed. This is feeding an alarming teen mental health crisis. As kids get older and more independent, parents often feel powerless to help. But fear not, there are evidence-backed strategies to guide them from disengagement to drive, in and out of school. For the past five years, award-winning journalist Jenny Anderson and the Brookings Institution’s global education expert Rebecca Winthrop have been investigating why so many children lose their love of learning in adolescence.

Throw Out Fifty Things is truly an eye-opener. According to Blanke, our lives are so filled with junk from the past—from dried up tubes of crazy glue to old grudges—that's it's a wonder we can get up in the morning, never mind go to work, care for our children and parents, and just put one foot in front of the other. Blanke wants to start a movement of people across America throwing out 50 things (magazines count as one!) that will help liberate us from the stuff—both physical and mental—that clutters our lives.

Everything I expected plus more!
Ever since I first heard of Tyler the Tidy Dad on a podcast talking about “surthrival”, I’ve been a fan! With his approach to life and messes - not just those in the house or with raising children - has really struck home with me. I was so glad to hear he wrote a book - yay, finally! What a wonderful book with so many great tips, tricks, and advice but also sharing personal parts of his and his family’s life and what they are learning on the go. This will definitely be a re-read over and over again. Thank you Tyler!

The best book without making you feel stressed about staying organized!
First of all I can't tell you what a good listen this was... it was due to the fact that Tyler read so clearly and with such personality. I felt like I was just watching another one of his Instagram videos of his life. I love how real he is. This book not only gave me so much information but it made me laugh out loud at times. I feel like he is such a great dad and husband and has worked hard to create this beautiful organized ( not perfect and I'm love that he admits that) life with his girls and wife Emily. I recommend this book 100% I'm going to listen again and again!
