About this listen

Survival rests in the hands of a madwoman…

Leaving behind the capital and all the changes he wrought there, Sen ventures back into the deep wilds in search of the mad, nascent soul cultivator, Fu Ruolan. It is a final, desperate bid to find the manual he needs to complete his body cultivation.

Of course, in the world of cultivation, things are rarely as straightforward as they seem. Madness takes many shapes, and Fu Ruolan is no exception to this truth. With everything on the line, though, Sen finds himself reluctantly agreeing to a deal that he may well live to regret.

Starting to lose me

The book is too short to have this much angst and depression. One major event and we all knew what it would be. Feels like the author got depressed and it’s all over the pages. This is the winter of thy discontent? Meh. Get back to the strong characters and great story or move on.

pretty good

it's a little slow pased but not bad it had it's fare share of funny moments but I would have appreciated some more humor but the story being in a more somber point does make it more difficult with him being in a better position towards the end of the book I hope the next book will return to the lighter more humorous writing of the earlier books depressed sen isn't as nice to listen to as happy sen

Mostly good

The story was mostly good, but it had quite a bit of depressing scenes. Plus a lot of over the top drama to enhance the depression feeling.

not my favorite

it is still good.. but terribly slowly paced. Too much time is spent on crafting the pill he needs. Definitely the most boring book of the series so far.

not much happens

this book feels like it could have been completed in ten chapters, even where it left off feels like it should have been part of this book because there wasn't much to this book, if I could request a refund I would. still like the overall story, but from the ending of the last book to the ending of this one not much at all happened

i like where it's going but pick up the pace

so far everything about this series is great. but, this book in particular felt half finished and slow. the first 6hrs is him prepping for the cultivation manual. outside of that, we get nothing, no character growth or introspection, just mostly mindless chatter.

after the pill, we spend the next 6hrs with the most morose person to ever live and someone in desperate need of some happy pills. we also end with him coming to terms, thus the half finished part.
