About this listen

Three years have passed since the Jamaicans caused the apocalypse, and things in post-Armageddon Chicago have settled into a new kind of normal. Unfortunately, that "normal" includes collapsing skyscrapers, bands of bloodthirsty maniacs, and a dwindling cache of survival supplies. After watching his family, friends, and most of the non-sadistic elements of society crumble around him, Patrick decides it's time to cross one last item off his bucket list. He's going to Disney World.

This hilarious, heartfelt, gut-wrenching odyssey through post-apocalyptic America is a pilgrimage peppered with peril, as fellow survivors Patrick and Ben encounter a slew of odd characters, from zombie politicians and deranged survivalists to a milky-eyed oracle who doesn't have a lot of good news. Plus, it looks like Patrick may be hiding the real reason for their mission to the Magic Kingdom.

I loved the book and will start the next one immediately. I’m not big on apocalypse story but the blurb about it sold me and I’m glad it did

My favorite apocalypse story

I love this book. And you cannot beat the performance by the narrator. It’s an irreverent, funny, witty book with awesome “end of the world with a smack of Monty python” humor, and in the end I have wound up listening to it over and over because the friendship is so snarky, goofy, bickering and absolutely true that it makes me happy every time.
Ps- technically I’m a middle aged woman- for what that’s worth. But I listen like a 13 yr old geek :)

One of my favorite books ever

it is a B version of a Post Apocalyptic, Monty Python-esq, Planes Trains & Automobiles type buddy Odyssey.

good b movie

Loved it. The wackiness is well balanced with a true friendship and deep seated emotion. I will never look at a Butterscotch Snack pack the same way again.

Crazy in the chaos

Laugh out loud story of two best friends who survived the apocalypse and decide to go on one last grand adventure to the happiest place on earth: Disney World.

The trials and mini adventures along the way are more crazy and outlandish than the last and I couldn’t stop listening. Patrick Lawler aced the narration and really brought Clayton Smith’s story to life. I’m forever a fan of both.

Light and witty, but dark and heavy at times. This story was so much more than I ever expected. Definitely will be recommending to everyone.

Funny, heartbreaking, amazing!

I love this book! It’s my very favorite. I’ve read it twice, listened 3 times, and bought copies for 6 other people. Is it cheesy? Yes! The world is serious, we could all use more cheese. Patrick and Ben have an amazing friendship, and their adventure is so fun. Silliness around every corner to break up the darkness of the setting and overall reason for the adventure. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll question. Read it!!

Best buds at the end of the world

This was not at all what I was expecting, however, the characters are so lovable. It's like a road trip with two stooges. Not a boring moment with these two.

Unexpectedly Good Story!

It reads like a fan fiction written by a high schooler who didn’t have much experience writing a story with an expansive world where actions have consequences.

The entire book could have been reduced to four or five chapters, the first few and the final few. Overall, the premise is laid out, the adventure is set, the heroes have an interaction with the only people they will ever interact with again, and everything else in between is as engaging as it is funny.

Honestly, my biggest issue with the main characters is that they are both so astronomically idiotic that you’d think they would either learn from their mistakes or just die in this world.

It’s fine.
